I am about to head off to work and I will be gone all day. Rather than hold off until I get home I will announce the Weekend Rider™ now.
Which is, without further ado -
Lotus Esprit V8 '02
Buy from Lotus New Car Garage, expensive but, hey, it aint my money ;D
Catch up with Yáll after work.
Dialup is the pits. It exists merely to confirm how futile and pathetic our puny lives really are.

That one oughta be pretty fun. I like lightweight MRs, especially w/ 300+ hp.

Meh. Still sorting stuff out after moving so will probably give this one a miss - or, more than likely, play loads of GT to earn some CR and give it a go...

Ooh. Nice choice, Viper! This is one fast, stable MR that can stay planted pretty well. I'm looking forward to seeing how it handles the bumps and chaos of Karussel...

Well, four hours later, I have finally gotten around to posting the driving experience I had in the Lotus Esprit V8 '02 on the Nürburgring. Naturally, this is sans driving aids, manual transmission and GUNMETAL METALLIC, BABY!!1 (honestly, what color did you frickin' EXPECT me to pick?)
1st Lap: 8'26.214 on Road tires (N3 grade) - Good lap, albeit overly careful in most places thanks to the reduced grip. Up until the near-end of the Karussel section, it was a "license-clean" lap, which is not to say it was pretty. I finally came loose for the first time shortly after Pflantzgarten (fast right-hand kink immediately following the little drop-jump near the end of the Karussel section), actually in the fast winding section between Pflantzgarten and the lower exit from the Karrusel section. For some reason, I always lose it there... Again I lost traction while trying to brake after the Dottinger-Hohe kink, to decelerate for the approach to pit road. I failed, and spun handily off the right side of the road. Even so, I was impressed that I wound up with a sub-8'30 lap!
2nd Lap: 8'09.811 on medium Sports tires (S2 grade) - Better lap, but still not quite "stellar." Again, I kept it pretty well planted, staying license-clean, but only up to the Bergwerk-Karussel section. As you push up the winding up-hill road (primarily flat-out), there are a couple of left-hand kinks that are somewhat misleading in their execution. The second of these kinks is actually a LOT slower than it looks, and I drifted off the outside of the track there, yet recovered quickly into 3rd gear. Not too much time lost, but not fantastic, either. Even so, I managed to keep it sticky-side-down for the rest of the lap, taking NO chances where I had come unglued before. I know it cost me a few seconds, but I'd gladly trade those seconds to NOT die! I wound up unintentionally drifting my way through most of the Karussel section, and had to slow it down a bit between Pflantzgarten and Dottinger-Hohe to avoid losing it in the kinks and undulations. Imagine my surprise to see the timer at only 7'16 when I entered the D-H Straight! A stable 250+ km/h down the two mile straight followed by a crisp, tidy approach to pit lane and I was looking at the finish line in under 8 minutes. It took me another nine seconds and change to cross, though... ¬_¬
Altogether, this is a stable, fast, agile car. It can suffer from understeer if you get on the throttle too early, but it can also oversteer if you don't brake while stable. Trail-braking is still a risky proposition in this machine, but it's not absolutely taboo. You can get away with a little, just don't go crazy! Throttle control is easy, in spite of the 350 bhp from the 3.5L Turbo-V8. It's got a healthy torque curve, yet it still has race-engine qualities (high redline, snap late in the band, etc.). All in all, this is one awesome machine that could do MUCH better with a better driver.
BTW, all my testing was done in Arcade Mode.

got my time: 7:49.837 Very horrible first lap even with the s2's on. went off the track three times and had one spinout. the second lap was much better. I slowed it down a bit and managed a sub 8min lap without going of the track. After doing many smooth laps. I started pushing it. The first lap I got 7'55.XXX. then the laps kept getting better and better while still being smooth(:0) I stopped after 10 laps and ended up with my time of 7:49.837. This is not my fastest lap but it was my smoothest. I loved this car.

Lotus Espirit Weekend Rider:
This car kinda looks like something out of the eighties that James Bond would drive. Despite some slightly aged looks, it still looks fast. Which is appropriate because it packs some nice go under the hood. My first impression was that the car was more stable and easier to drive than most MR layout cars with this much power. The car seemed fairly neutral in most corners. Except for one especially exciting bit of oversteer in Schwedenkreuz, the car stayed planted and did exactly like I told it to without complaining. (now if I could find a girl like that..... just kidding) It's plenty fast in a straight line. It makes the most of 350 hp by being very light.
My lap times were around 7'40 flat. I could have got under 7'40 on my second lap, but a slight mistake in my line sent me off into the grass after mini-Karussel.
Now if only this car had another hundred horsepower, it would be an exciting car indeed. Maybe it wouldn't be Spirra style crazy, but it would be fun.

Woohoo, just finished the IA license tests, and you can guess which one I'm talking about here...I missed out on gold by .23 seconds this time I've ran it three times now and my times are +1.3, +.74 & +.23 seconds over gold time. Gonna get there next run...! But there were loads of little mistakes here and there in all three runs (at one point I think I only had 1 (ONE!) wheel on the track). Hopefully it shows I'm learning the 'Ring a little better.

Hey all, Glad the Lotus is going down well, BTW does anybody remember Driving mission 31 ? I was hoping the memory of that would not put anyone off ! At least this one does not understeer like a sumbitch. Pretty good car all told, plenty of grunt , stable and as nightmare pointed out, 007 looks. The only problem I had was being stuck with AT, tranny kept getting bogged down in the midrange. Would be easily fixed with a FC tranny. As I am still farting about setting up my new PC etc. only managed a few laps ( S2's ) using the Supra RZ as ghost. Best lap (and started to get nice and consistant at the end of session) was a 7 '37 . 725. Will send some pix through tomorrow. Soon.

DM 31 was running down a bunch of Lotii using the Esprit, a one lap magic mission.
I do not think shipwreck22 has been a picker yet so I pass on the baton to him.
Soon.
