JESUS FREAKIN CHRIST THAT THING IS HARD!!! Still... I've managed to hit bronze on all them, although i'm 5 or 6 seconds away from Gold in Nür and Suzuka, but only 2 seconds away from Gold in Imola... with a freakin DS3, which many say it's impossible... Right now it's my workhorse for B-Spec grinding. This weekend I'm planning to do the Suzuka 1000Km endurance, and I'm going to take it for a spin myself. Yeah, yeah I know... massive overkill, complete disregard of the competition, but I'm actually doing this for 2 reasons: - I want to finish the race as fast as possible
- I want to get a better feel of how the car behaves, in order to improve my average times on the laps
Wish me luck, because I'm going to need it in order to master this beast...

I'm about 400k experience points away from unlocking and about a semester away from having the time to try it.
I don't know that I'll be able to do it with the DS3. I know bronze is doable with the DS3, but I'm still having serious problems with LMPs and the like with the DS3, I can't imagine how something faster is going to go. I really do miss my steering wheel.

the X1 is stupid easy todrive compared to an LMP nightmare. no wheelspin. no brake lockup.
point, shoot.
literally, it's about reaction times. the X1 is so sensitive that the slightest touch on a DS3 will shoot you across the track.
with a wheel, the issue is overcorrection. with the DS3, the problem is steering in general being so sensitive.
the X1 forces you to use entirely unconventional driving styles. it's a retardedly fast car.
that's the reason the gold times are so ridiculous I think. because it's so easy to drive quick.

Ah, ok. That's what I had kind of gathered from seeing videos of it. I really have problems with throttle control with the DS3 because the triggers are so bad. The last third of the range of travel on my controller does absolutely nothing, if you press down 66%, you get 100% throttle. That makes driving high-powered rear drive cars a huge hassle.

there is so much DF, the rear wheels never step out. I've mashed it as hard as possible. you can't make it step out.

Congratulations on the Bronze achievment on Vettel Nemesis ! Truly impressive and I am sure you have the skill to eventually Gold them all too I doubt I have the skill or patience to do it myself but may be happy with Bronze one day in the distant future, although Suzuka looks near impossible for me. Not sure why they made it a two lap challenge, very frustrating to get to 90% of the challenge and then spear off into the nearest bit of scenery, would stand more chance with a 1 lap flyer. I guess they do not want too many punters achieving Platinum ?

I think they definitely wanted the Vettel challenge to be one that you could be proud of achieving. I don't have a problem with that, I just don't see myself ever getting it with a controller. Gah! I miss my wheel!

Okay, time for a status report:
Nürburgring: GOLD
Monza: GOLD
Suzuka: about 5.8 seconds away from gold, need A LOT of practice on what many call the hardest track of the bunch.
Looking good... I hope I will become one of the few guys that actually golded this with a DS3

Very nice. I spent an afternoon trying to get this with my wheel over spring break. I've got silver at Monza, but I'm about four seconds away from silver at Nurb and Suzuka.
I've gotta say, getting that close to all gold with the DS3 is damn impressive.

Oh, I will Gram. I will. But I will only do it when I get gold on all of them. Let you know first hand when I do it

I know.
After I get gold on Suzuka, I'll see what I can do about online.
My main issue right now with Suzuka is finishing the 2 laps. I can finish the first lap in 1:06:1xx, but I've seen as low as 1:05:6XX, but the amount of precision needed to finish the laps is immense, and I know I can get better in some parts (namely Degner and Spoon curves). Problem is I either turn too late and go off course, or I cut too much and I'm disqualified...
Still, I won't give up until I have gold on Suzuka. Unlike that guy called AlphaOmegaSid on the gfaqs boards, that almost says "If I can't do it with the DS3, no one can"

yeah well, he also says he won't ever gold the top gear challenges either. or the nurburgring challenges.
