So.... what's your story? How did you come to know and love the GT series? Where did you start?
My story.
I didn't get a PS until 1998 when I had cancer (long story ask me elsewhere), but my neighbor had one. Family Video was giving away free GT demos, so we got one and gave it to them, but I could still go and play it. The first time I played it, it was great, but I didn't consider buying it. When I got a PS, I didn't buy it, but that Christmas (IIRC) I got it and loved it. When GT2 came out, I really wanted it, and got it for Christmas. I only have 2 races left on it. (Grand Valley 300km & Rome 2 hrs.) 2001 rolls around w/ the PS2 and GT3. I got the System w/ the game for Christmas that year. Finally, in 2005, I got GT4 for Christmas. (actually, for Christmas 2004, but it wasn't released until Feb. 22, 2005, so I got it then.) Now, all I have left are a few one-makes (including Opel Speedster *shivers*)

Damn, you had some good Christmases. Oh, and don't worry about the Opel Speedster race, people make it out to be much harder than it is.

Get a non-turbo Speedster and mod the crap out of it. In fact, you don't even need all the go-fast parts with good tires. R4's make a bigger difference in this series than the St.2 turbo.
Also, welcome to the boards. Tough going with that cancer biz, but glad you pulled through it.

Yeah. 2 words. NOT FUN!!! I lost my hair due to the chemo therapy they were giving me. I live near Appleton, and the hospital I went to (actually, still go to for check-ups) is in Madison, 2 hours away, and whenever I got a fever, We'd need to go down there because The chemo killed ALL bacteria, good and bad.

Hm.. What kind of cancer was it? It was Berkits Lymphoma, which is a fast growing cancer. I had a tumor the size of a baseball wrapped around my large intestine. It showed up on the Cat-scans as a tumor w/ an air bubble in it.

Tell me about it. It was the worst, not only on myself, but also my friends and family too. And at the age of 6 (1998 August to Mid-November) these events happened.

On topic: I don't have much of a story, but here goes...
I bought GT2 for my little bro on his birthday. He likes racing games, and I figured he'd like GT2 because it was known for being a good sim and it had lots of real-life cars & tracks. Go figure, I got hooked on it, too.
This was around the same time that I bought my Mustang, and I was just getting seriously into cars. Without these 2 things, my life would most certainly suck.

My story:
I never played a whole lot of video games (except for a couple on the NES) until the family got a PS2 for Christmas in 2001. Of course, that PS2 came bundled with GT3. I was terrible at GT3, but my dad was pretty good. I made him do all of the races except those at Super Speedway so I could have some money to spend. He also picked up a steering wheel for it, which really helped. I ended up losing interest after a while. At that point I was more into arcade-style racers where I didn't have to have skill.
I picked up a copy of GT4 when it came out, even though I didn't think I would like it all that much. I've always been really interested in cars, however, and that's what convinced me to buy the game. I played GT4 for a LONG time and got to about 86%, with only endurance races and driving missions left. I was only good enough at that point to get bronzes in the licenses and win 10 a-spec pt. races. After a break, I got back into and got better. After another break, I started hanging around the GT4 board at GFAQS, which made me want to be better at the game. I started a second save, but this time I was making sure I was challenged in every race. I'm currently at 98.4% on that second save with all gold licenses. The four races I have left are: the 2 Sarthe Endurances, the Motegi 9 hr, the Tsukuba 8hr, and the entire 1000 Miles! series.
