Anyone interested in a temporary revival of GT3? I pulled it out a few days ago, and have been entertaining myself with it. It's been nearly 5 years since I played it, so it seems almost new again. DFP works with it, but only 180 degrees, which is fine.
I reached 100% completion with it when I played before, but I only got bronze on most of the license tests. I'm slowly working my way through, trying for golds. I'd say these are definitely harder than on 4.
Anyone have any fun challenges, I'm game.

I just started over on GT2 again last night. Sweet nostalgia.

The tests in GT3 are definitely harder than those in GT4. I remember struggling just for bronze with those, whereas in GT4 bronze is attainable pretty easily.

I agree with Nightmare. GT3's tests were a PAIN in the BUTT. Like hemmorhoid pain. Y'know, cuz hemmorhoids are in your butt... and they hurt... Every so often I will break out GT3 and try to fail at it with the DFP, but I just can't get used to the steering differences. I typically have to drive it with the DS2. I remember ripping off uberlaps with the F-series cars on most tracks, but when I first played GT3 I was more interested in destroying the competition. GT4 changed all of that, and now I'm more interested in good challenge. Nowadays I don't mind running the El Capitan 200 with a bone-stock NSX-R against Callaways and Vipers, whereas I would run it with nothing less than a 787B if it were in GT3... My how times have changed...

I've made it all the way though the B licenses, with the exception of B-8, which is trial mtn, from just before the first tunnel all the way through the long tunnel, and up the hill a ways. I'm within .028. A-2 is Laguna Seca, just the first double left-hander. I'm within .008 of gold on that one. At least there's only 8 tests per license, as opposed to 16 with GT4!

Hey all fellow GT3 fans !
I recently completed GT3 to 100 % for the first time. I played it about three years ago to help my Son out with some races and licences he was having trouble with, and had not touched until recently. Too busy with GT4 plus I was not that fond of it compared to GT1 & 2.
I only decided to get back into it because of a series of Tournaments at the Gamespot GT Union, involving all versions, and thought I may as well finish it for the full set.
As of today I have completed 44 Gold Licence and have 4 Silver (all Special) . I agree that the tests seem harder than GT4. Unlike GT4 where you can usually work out what is required and neat driving will get you there, GT3 seems to require following a "Golden Line" perfectly, or forget it ! Also most tests seem to have at least one corner which makes or breaks the attempt. It also seems to me to be heavily biased towards MT drivers.
Anyway I am happoy to join in any Racing you guys want to do and am of course available for any advice or help I can offer.
Will keep you posted on progress towards 48 Gold !!

Just finished S8 for gold, so that is now 100 % complete and 48 Gold Licence
Woot !
Very difficult, in fact I had no chance of getting the Gold until I switched to Manual, became much easier then. I guess I need a new challenge now, wish they would hurry up and release GT5 as I could probably justify getting a PS3 for that now. In the meantime I guess I will just try and lower some of the Gold Licence times for a laff.
Later.

I hate using manual. But I guess I might have to give it a try. Been slackin' but I'll try to get back to it one of these days.

Hey Oldguy here is a quick challenge for you ( I issued a challenge in another thread but Nemesis was obviously too terrified to accept, lol) what are your best times for S6 & S8 in GT3 ?
I will post some times tomorrow.
Later.
edit - if anyone wants to do some racing in GT1, 2 or 3 I would be keen.

AARGH!!! Haven't played for a couple weeks, despite my promises. I'll have to do it one of these days. I haven't done any S's since refiring the GEEETEEE333333. So whatever I got before (I know it was just a bronze) is my best time. I'll have to give it another shot since my scylllz far exceed what they were when I did that 5 years ago!!
BTW, are those two some that it is far preferable to use MT? (jeesh. my grammar's really slipping!!)

Well, I managed the viper @ Laguna Seca using DS2 / AT The main trouble here was there are some very tricky corners, for example the very last corner will make or break most attempts.
The Toyota @ Monaco was the one I had to retrain my brain to cope with MT as I did not think I had a hope in hell otherwise.
Good luck. ( Forgot to bring my times to work with me, will post them tomorrow).

Finally put some attempts in on S-6 and S-8. I'm pretty hopeless at the Laguna Seca one. Best attempt is 1'19.5. That's almost 3 seconds off of Gold. I can't imagine where I'm going to find 3 more seconds. I guess I should watch the demo. Haven't yet. I've been drifting the first 3 turns. Don't know if that's the fastest way or not, but it seems to be.
I'm having a much better time with Monaco. Just .094 off Gold (1'31.094). That one's all about throttle control. I tried using manual, and keeping it in higher gears in an attempt to avoid the wheel-spin, but the paddle shifters aren't working, and I just can't seem to steer precisely and shift the shifter at the same time. So, I'm getting my fastest times in AT.
I haven't tried S-6 with MT. I'm just really frustrated with that one right now. I know I'll get 8 eventually, but I might just have to admit that 6 is better than me (along with anyone who's beat it). Blah blah blah!!
