It's a pretty well-established fact that if you want something to NOT work, you get the gubmint involved in it. Insta-fail. Who are the worst people that you've ever had to deal with in some form of business? I would hazard a guess that the majority of them were government employees (whether state, city, county, federal, etc.). After all, there have been numerous horror stories, and we've heard them all, about dealing with the DMV, or the IRS, or any number of other governmental agencies. Their employees all suck. Period.
You really want that to happen with people who actually need to care whether you live or die?

He makes a good point.
Although, if you work with the people we've got now, you'll find that most of them don't really give a crap if you live or die, either. Or if they do, it's only because someone dying might reflect poorly on them and they'll lose their precious job they don't care about. Would be funny if it wasn't disgusting...

They'd have even less motivation if they were government employees with more secure jobs.

Seriously, if we simplified our tax system, the money saved on bureaucracy would probably be enough to at least get a start on universal health care (or social security, or blah blah blah). In any case, the tax system is too complex. Ron Paul for president.

I think that's a saying from the old days, when pots were black.

I don't know about that, Pred. Mine is black, albeit Teflon®-coated...
However, the irony of your "generalizations" statement stands.

I used to use that teflon coated stuff, but now I swear by stainless steel. I bought a big set of them during the holiday sales, shortly after I moved into my new apt. The teflon coating would inevitably start cracking and peeling away, and I didn't want that shit in my food, thanks.
Now, if I don't want something to stick, I just lightly spray the pan.
My main point, I guess, is that most stores today are about 50/50 on their offerings of teflon and stainless cookware. I know, I did a LOT of shopping for ANYthing kitchen related shortly after I moved. Of course, I guess this is really only certain in CA. I couldn't say for sure if it's the same in Canada, but I would be surprised if there was a significant difference.

90% of it is teflon shit here. finding a good set of stainless steel pots/pans is a chore, but worth it.
No worries though, my mom got alot of pots form her parents and grandparents. all Stainless. boorah.
