GP course, can I? Parts of it just seem so arbitrary, no natural flow to it at all. It feels formulaic, like they knew they wanted specific kinds of corners or complexes in this track and decided they were going to implement them with no regards for the land they were building them on. It's just so... artificial.
Compare that to its big brother next door, which flows naturally, and at times feels like they found a goat track through the hills and decided to pave over it. Or even something like Spa, or Laguna Seca, which embrace the undulations and make them iconic parts of the track (See: Eau Rouge, The Corkscrew)

it's a tilke track man.
all I need to know. I hate the GP course. with the same complaints. no flow, it seems to cut into the landscape rather than flowing over it, etc. Plus, for a GP course, it feels ridiculously bumpy.
I also really don't like the trend with some F1 courses to throw ess curves and chicanes at you for every single corner complex. yes, i get it, they are cool. they aren't cool when there's 13 of them in a single effin lap (exaggeration, but true)

The only thing I don't like about the track is how B-spec Bob ALWAYS hops the curb in the next to final (iirc) corner and proceeds to fly into the grass and sit there until every last opponent flies by.
I must get Bob some more exp, or my controller will surely suffer my wrath.

the chicane? good luck. the AI hates that final chicane.

the chicane? good luck. the AI hates that final chicane. Yeah, that fricken chicane. It's so funny to watch the AI in the FGT race there...

I just hate the FGT.
something seems. . . wonky to me about it. i hate using driver aids, and TCS 1, ABS 1 makes it impossible for me to consistently drive. that's not even driving fast. it's just driving it without dying, or trying to find a way to.

Yeah, I definitely drove more cautious in it than I ever remember in GT4.

don't think I'll ever be assed to actually do the FGTWC. at least in GT4, it was long enough that if you had a car on hard tires, you could do it without the FGT, should you fail with it.
here, I fail with it, and the races are short as all hell. AND I can't enter it with a non FGT car. AND, there is no pitting when playing in A spec. dammit.

Is there no way to save and quit in the middle of a championship in this game? I haven't seen the option. This is very disturbing to me if that's true.
I'm finding that I'm driving more cautiously in basically every rear-drive car in GT5 compared to GT4. It seems like everything is more lively with throttle application, which makes some sense to me, I guess, but the race cars are pretty challenging to drive now because of it. You need to be very careful about putting power to the ground if you aren't pointed in a straight line. That wasn't really the case in GT4 (using traction control in both games, btw).
I've been playing with my wheel while I've been home and I'm not seeing myself succeeding with the DS3 when I go back to school. The triggers on the DS3 are just too crappy. I'll either have to find space for the wheel in my dorm or shelf GT5 until summer :\

I may have to shelf GT5 till next winter, to be honest.
bossman says we have a ton of work this summer. like, 4 houses in 5 months. that's nuts for 3 guys. so I feel your pain.
What I don't get about the FGT is that I get a spin out when i shouldn't. like, during braking, I don't turn in until i'm well slow enough. but letting off the brake and turning in as you do so in a progressive manner (like the game's license tests, and the Apex manual tell you to, and which has worked in eveyr other car I've driven in game) to keep traction on the front tires results in an insta-spin.
if i don't do that, and instead brake, coast to stabilize the car, and then turn, I am running brutally slow.
argh.

I can't play for long in one sitting anymore, it's just rediculous when you get up to the higher levels.
Maybe try fiddling with the settings a bit, adjusting the downforce may help (maybe adjusting the brakes also?) to find a balance.

I don't have an issue with that (level 32, halfway to 33, stalled now) it's the fact that the only event I need to do requires a car that I greatly dislike.
as in, I'd drive the yaris, before I'd drive the FGT.
yeah. and i have the downforce maxed since every track that the FGTWC has includes some mid-high speed bends which let me gain about a second a lap on the AI. the issue is the heavy braking that takes place afterward. kills me every time. plus, i really, genuinely hate Fuji. what a mess.
I'm gonan try implementing left foot braking, like in rally and the go kart series, nd see if that doesn't help stabilize the car a little. don't know if it'll work, but it might.

Umm, there's one thing in the driver settings or whatever (where you pick tires and aids), there's a skid assist (grip assist?) thingy, I might've used that with the FGT to make it a little more tolerable.

Skid recovery force, I think? There were a couple of special events where that was locked on and I found it to be pretty counter-intuitive. If you slide and apply some counter steer with that on, it spins you instead of correcting the slide. The correct way to recover a slide with it on is to just continue sliding. Or something. IDK, I found it frustrating because I didn't want it on and I haven't tested it otherwise.
I also agree that the Fuji redesign is a mess. The final section before the straight is a goddamn fustercluck, there's no other way to describe it. I'm bummed that the 90's version isn't in the game, but with a barrier to prevent the ridiculous grasscut through the chicane. Seriously, I've beaten a Ford GT using a Dodge Ram using that grasscut, that's how ridiculous it was.

I've only used it knowingly on the FGT. Maybe it just gave me that psychological edge I needed...
Also I hate the new Fuji as well, they should've included the older versions. Honestly I think they should've done better with the tracks in this game.
