Has anyone else played this? It's incredible, makes GT5 look like Mario Kart. Loads of top pro's use it for practise and to learn new tracks (they laser scan every track so they are perfect to the inch), I'm absolutely hooked lol.

I haven't played this specific one, but I have played other "hardcore" pc racing sims like the GTR series. iracing seems a little bit expensive, and it kind of blurs the lines between fun and true competition. I prefer fun These games are really cool. You can change literally everything about your car. I really wish I could still play it, but the original GTR doesn't work with windows 7 I remember having a great time just tuning and going for fast laps. I could never complete a race because I'd always crash at some point or other. I'd get pretty lazy after about ten minutes, and i'd usually lose the back end coming out of a corner, curse, and quit the race. Good times.

Ye GTR is fun, and I know what you mean about iRacing, theres a massive notice as you sign up that "It is not a Game, it is a Simulation". But the competition and the way everyone drives as they would in real life (avoiding contact and following etiquette), not to mention the physics (which are much more realistic than GTR, rFactor, LFS or any other sim) means I'm having more fun on it than I ever did with other racing sims, some of the racing is exceptional.
And I can understand about the cost, thats what puts most people off. But you can just stick to the free content (I have, all I've bought was the Skip Barber car and I used credits that I earned from people referring me to get that lol) and the membership is quite affordable, especially the $12 for your first 3 months deal. But if you want to take it really seriously, and reach your A, or even Pro license then it costs A LOT of money.
But thats not where most the money will go if you plan to go that far, the majority of the guys who compete at that level have some serious sim hardware, you can forget stuff like G27's and Fanatecs... I'm talking stuff like Frex wheels/Shifters, CST Pedals, 3 screen setups and a MONSTER PC to run it all. We're talking $2000 just for the sim hardware, and thats not including the PC, seat/rig they use or monitors.... Personally though I'm quite happy with my G27/Wheelstandpro and a laptop plugged into my TV via HDMI ^_^

Sounds like too much money for me. There are so many games like that, where the FTP content is just lucrative to suck you in, and slowly begin to pry at your wallet, lol. This game really does sound cool though, I'm gonna look into it.
I think you had me at "laser scan" lol

Ye there are a lot of games like that, but the extra content is better than paying £15 for 3 maps on CoD -_-.
If you get the 3 months subscription you probably won't have the time to actually go past the free content anyway lol. Also Fox, if you do look into it and try it out would you refer me (albi.g@btinternet.com) and add me as a friend!! Finally, after 4 years can get some proper races together lol.

www.youtube.com/user/DuLuBuNuRuPuSome vids I uploaded, nothing serious just testing out how to upload really, some of rFactor too (which is also worth a try, quite a complicated game to set up though as its based entirely around community made mods).

Ah yes, lime rock park... I've gone there maybe 3 or 4 times over my life, and it's really a great track. Some of the most beautiful landscapes i've seen. Roads are fun to drive too. I usually chill on the hill to the left at 0:04.
great vids, quality looks good.
