Yesterday I had the dubious pleasure of reading about the '07 car fo teh y33r while at work yesterday. Turns out it's the Toyota Camry.
I have to say that I was amazed by the sheer volume of crap cars that were in the running. I also couldn't help but notice that the article seemed to be written by DRZ himself. I'm willing to bet that DRZ plagarizes these articles and passes them off for his posts. It was spooky...
One of the lines defending the Camry went something like this: "Some people would say that this car has no soul, but they just think that because the car doesn't break."
...that was the gist anyway, I certainly wasn't going to bring that crap home.
Anyone else see this?

Yet more proof that the Car of the Year award can have very little to do with how good the car actually is.

One of the lines defending the Camry went something like this: "Some people would say that this car has no soul, but they just think that because when the car breaks it's classified as routine maintenance instead of a repair." Fixed.

Hi dom!
COTY has naught to do with the best car; The manufacturer who pays Motor Trend the most wins.
Note that a new 'Merican truck wins TOTY every time one comes out, and when a new japomobile comes out it wins COTY?

Welcome to BOTH of you.
Funny thing about that "car fo teh yaer" award business, whenever Car & Driver does a "truck" comparison, it has all manner of non-truck crap that is featured (like a FRICKIN' MINI VAN!), and it is modus operandi for the least truck-like vehicle to win. A couple of years ago, they had one that featured the Ridgeline, Frontier, Dakota, X-Runner and Colorado, and the Ridgeline took honors. Never mind that it had the worst towing capacity, least torque, flimsiest suspension, most fragile chassis (a frickin "cute ute" UNIBODY?!), and lowest load capacity (thanks to said chassis), it still beat out far better able and equipped competition. I guess it wasn't actually a "best truck" test after all.

But the Ridgeline makes mediocre gas mileage, as opposed to the EPA and Honda claims that it makes GOOD gas mileage!!!!
To think that my dad almost bought one.

nightmare75's Mod/Admin Budget RiderIt's doubtless to me that if I posted this on GF it would be immediately modded and I would lose karma, complain, and then just post it here. I decided to skip the decidedly crappy middle-man and post it here for the people that will get the most amusement out of it ^__^ Car: Fiat 500R '72. Honestly, folks, there is no finer Fiat 500 in this game. It has all of one (1) more horsepower than either of the other 500s. That means it has potential. I did bend the rules of this one a tad bit. I spent WAAAAAAY more than your average mod makes in his entire lifetime. And that was only after I bought the Stage 2 turbo. Obviously this mod has some parents that DRZ_McUNEMPLOYED would be proud of. I ended up purchasing every power mod available for the little bugger, bringing it to a whopping 92 hp. I also purchased the sports suspension and some S3 tires... just for good measure. I started by taking this beast of a car to Tsukuba. I made it around the track without touching the brakes. The car tops out at a breathtaking 79 mph, but has plenty of power for more. On Tsukuba, I'd just drive into the corner, let off the gas, and let the severe rear weight bias oversteer me around the corner. I was quite pleased. The next step for the Flyin' Fiat was the Sunday Cup. After all, little Moddy needed to make some money to pay back his parents. This car was able to smoke everybody on the small tracks, but got left in the dust on tracks where the opponents reached 80 mph or greater. By now, I was bursting with excitement to drive this thing on the 'Ring. And I got pictures. This car is a little bucket of oversteer. It's almost as bad as a Ruf in that department. However, seeing as it's never over 80, it's not too difficult to control. Acceleration up to the top speed is lackluster at best. I found that this vehicle reached its highest speed when it was in neutral, coasting down the hill: i168.photobucket.com/albums/u166/nightmare_75/GT4/FasterinNeutral.jpgI was also able to do some sweet dRiFTzOORrxroROrx!!onesin(90) in this car: i168.photobucket.com/albums/u166/nightmare_75/GT4/fiatdrift.jpg10 minutes and 47 seconds later, I found the finish line. I did not feel like wasting another 10 minutes of my life on this car, but I did snap some sweet pics of it. In this one, you can see the blingin' rimz, yo!! And of course, this picture captures the true essence of this car. It encapsulates the very soul of the Fiat, exposing it for all to see and marvel at. I bring it to you now without any further ado... That, my friends and compatriots, is pure GF Mod Pwnage. There is none better.
