"All I did was bump the topic. If you're familiar with final fantasy, I "raise"d or in this case "raisaja"d the topic, which basically is a bump. I don't know why this wouldn't fly here. True, it's not a FF board, but I know many of the regs here and they are into FF as well."

"The terminology that you used to bump the topic is not what is in dispute, it's that you bumped a topic that no one posted in for 6 days. If no one was interested in posting in the topic anymore, there was no need to bump it."
Message From deltamustang_65 at 2008-02-19 20:39:21
"Actually, people are posting in it now, thanks to the bump. So there ARE people that are interested in posting in this topic, this board is just slow because the game isn't out yet. Also, the only time where a bump would be appropriate is when the topic hasn't been posted in in awhile. If I bumped the topic and it had a post in the last 24 hours, I can see how THAT would be disruptive, but not this."
Message From GameFAQs Moderation Staff at 2008-02-21 04:14:25
"you bumped a six day old dead topic. that is always disruptive."
The mind boggles. Isn't this what bumping is effing FOR!?!? Also, does the fact that the topic got busy again not matter? Or how about the fact that many of the other topics are dead or ask questions that are answered in the sticky? What exactly am I disrupting? I wonder if anyone even marked my post for being disruptive, or if they just get off on messing with people on slow boards.

Dumb. Absolutely dumb. The contest system almost never works. And I believe that the ToS states that "excessive bumping" is against the rules, not a single bump. I think on a slow board like GT5, 6 days is almost nothing for deadness. It was on the second page, correct? A bump to the first from the second being modded is absolutely ridiculous.
But if you didn't lose any karma, it doesn't really matter. The bump served it's purpose. That's not to belittle the idiocy of this moderation, but I'm just saying that it's probably not important.

Oh, believe me, I know it's not important. It's all about the principle. I mean, I don't think I've ever been modded for something this DUMB before. Not to mention innocent. If I don't at least try to appeal this garbage...I'm almost afraid to think what they'll mod me for next.
Jesus, in a year or two, they could start sending people to the gulag just because one basement dwelling FAQtard thinks you bumped a topic in an annoying manner...
This just in!
I finally got this game, but I have a question... Board: Gran Turismo 5 | Topic: 40908194 - I finally got this game, but I have a question... | Moderation ID: 6446866 From: deltamustang_65 | Posted: 1/20/2008 8:55:38 PM Moderated at: 2/23/2008 7:36:15 PM | Reason: Trolling | Action: Topic Deleted

Q. How do I trun?
As far as I can tell, the only way it falls under the category of trolling is the ridiculous "don't ask dumb questions" rule. I find it amazing that us regs seem to be the only ones getting modded for breaking that one.
Is there any possible way we can get a social board, like many other game boards on GF? This is absurd. We have no options whatsoever when it comes to social stuff of ANY kind, yet they have no problem deleting topics that are just for fun.
These topics are not hurting anyone, so get a f@cking life you GaymeFAG f@cktards!!!
(deliver that message for me, would you please?)
P.S. I'm not going to bother anymore, so would someone else continue making these topics in my stead? It seems anything with my name on it is doomed to a very short life there, thanks to the mods surprising capacity for learning... (lulz)

There definitely aren't enough people on GT4/5 for a social board. But the thing is, when a board gets older and it doesn't have a social board to accompany it, they're supposed to be more lax on the moderations when it comes to off-topic posting.
How that post is trolling, I have no idea. It just doesn't make sense.

boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=941103&topic=41593974Hmmm...I didn't know there were population requirements for social boards before I made this. But yeah, I know that's how it's SUPPOSED to work, Nightmare. Problem is, the mods are sadistic assholes. I doubt they'd give GT a social board just because they seem to enjoy f@cking with us so much, and that would make it just a little bit harder for them.

don't worry. there are always more random question topics.
in the past 16 days, i have lost 60 karma, if my count is correct. mostly from supposed "trolling" or "flaming" on the MGS4 boards...
How i get modded for trolling, yet the Xbots who post "this coming to 360?" topics 30 times a freaking day, after being told it was exclusive, and after kojima SAID "if you want MGS4, get a PS3", is beyond me.

Fucking amazing. I knew that topic wouldn't last long. I was honestly surprised to find it still there after waking up this morning.
I asked them how to get a social board going in the useless "contest" form, I can't wait to read what B.S. is in store.

I've been doing that, too.

"Ok, rather than anyone actually try to help me out like a human being, I just get modded. Maybe I can ask this here...How does one go about getting a social board established for GT5?"
Message From GameFAQs Moderation Staff at 2008-02-25 06:15:59
"You don't. One will be made once it is deemed by the admin that the board is active enough and requires one."
Ok. I can't even respond to this because I have too many failed appeals. I can't help but marvel at the typical GF moderator's poor grasp of engrish. I didn't ask "how do I make" a social board, I asked "how does one go about getting". The asshole-ish response would only work with the former, or in this particular case, the mod gets off on being an asshole to people he'll never meet in person to receive a severe beating.
Also, while the board may not be "active enough", relatively, what makes the mods think that the board doesn't require one? There's a demand for it. Innocent off-topic, social, etc threads and posts are deleted constantly and with abandon. Having one would certainly cut down on their time spent modding people needlessly. Oh, and how does deleting the petition topic for a social board help the admins decide if the GT board requires a social forum??? Their words and actions don't quite go together, which makes me think that they're just plain full of shit.
I'd love to hear from that moderator guy that comes here to complain about the fact that we're complaining. Maybe he can shed some light, perhaps work with the regs on this little issue. Is that possible?

It's more that we couldn't comprehend (as non-simian entities) that the FAQtards (awesome name, btw) could depart from logical cogitation quite that far. It's like each time we reach a new low (lower than any previous) we are amazed that they manage to go even lower time and time again.
In short, they never cease to amaze (rather, depress) us as logical beings.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Modding strictly for topicality on a 3+ year old board is absolutely ridiculous.
I will say this. Why waste time posting social topics over there when we have this site?

Tell 'em to come over here. Tell them subtly, of course.
Actually, now that I think about it, all the ways I know to tell someone to come over here will get flash-modded. This could be tougher than it seemed at first glance.
