Welcome to the Nürburgring Diary, founded by sackedagain, and home to
those who simply cannot get enough of the fabled Nürburgring Nordschleife,
often referred to simply as the "Ring". The Diary is a forum for sharing
virtual experiences of the Ring between Virtual Ringers. Here is where
those who love the Ring can get together and share their stories about
this fabulous and sometimes terrifying track, site of intense Grand Prix
racing from the '20s until Niki Lauda's fearful immolation in 1976. After
this, Grand Prix departed the 'Ring forever. It still occupies an
important place in the automotive world, being a site of near-constant
testing by almost all major manufacturers, and a valuable proving ground.
There is even a real-life 24 hour race that takes place every year.

So, come in, kick back, sit down, and share your virtual experiences of
the Nürburgring Nordschleife, dubbed the "Green Hell" by the eminent Sir
Jackie Stewart. Welcome, welcome!

There are now 3 weekly activities that we conduct here at
the Diary; the Weekend Rider (WR), Budget Rider (BR), and our newest
institution, the Racecar Rider (RR).



The Weekend Rider is the oldest. In this one person (generally chosen by
the last to have the pick) picks a car that they think will be amusing,
enlightening, joyful, aggravating, or fun for the other Diary readers. The
pick is announced sometime on Friday, preferably before too late. For the
rest of the weekend, we share our experiences, be they positive or
negative, with our fellow 'Ringers. Lap times are not of the utmost
importance, though we do share them, compare them, and try if we can to
come closest to the best. It is not a competition! Though at times it may
seem that way, it really isn't. What is important is how you achieve your
lap times.



The WR is run stock, on the tyres it comes on (or worse, at the driver's
option -- the N grade tyres are closer to real world spec), with an oil
change permitted. It should be a street car and comply with the noise
regulations of the real Nürburgring -- i.e. stock exhaust. Also, it should
be buyable or, if winnable, easily winnable. (No gold license prizes,
mission prizes or Endurance/Extreme Hall prizes, unless it seems agreeable
by general consensus.) You may use the driving aids if you so desire, but
most of us run them with all aids off.



The BR is the middle sibling; in this, someone (basically the first person
to think up an idea for the week) announces around Monday a set of rules,
consisting in a budget of some form, and restrictions on permissible
modifications and allowed cars. Then we all go out, blow money, and share
the results.



The RR is the newest addition; for this someone selects one of the Race
Cars available, announces it on Wednesday, and we all take it for a spin.
Cars are run as-is with an oil change, and you may tweak the tunable bits
if you want. As of yet we have no protocol for choosing the chooser of the
RR™. Ask, and ye may receive.

All lists on the archives blog are current, so I will not
repost them at this time. I will however keep a backup of the lists on my
computer should any problems arise.

For now, just keep this bumped while we finish off the previous volume.
Just wanted to make sure this was up before the last one finished in case
someone decides to accelerate the end of its life cycle.

and a repost of the current BR, as I expect the last volume
to fill within the next hour or two:

Happy Halloween BR

Your Australian friend has come to town and brought his Holden Monaro with
him. He thought it would be fun to have his son participate in "Trick or
Treat" with your son this year. However the competitive nature of your
friendship has turned it into a challenge. He will take his son in his
Monaro, and you'll take your son in your Pontiac GTO. Can you show him how
a real Trick or Treater does business?

The challenge: Modify the GTO and/or Monaro in order to bring their
power/weight ratio as close to equal as possible. Run a lap in theMonaro
first, then try to topple that time in the GTO. In vitg's case, feel free
to reverse roles by being the visitor come to out trick or treat your
American friend on his home turf, and run the cars in reverse order.
Flibutz and anyone else from outside the U.S. can take whichever role they
wish.

Well, it would be more of a RR revisited. We've done it as
an RR and I personally A-spec'ed the 24 hour 'ring endurance with that
car. If I can break away from FF12 I may run a lap or 2 as well as doing
my BR

Thought of you guys while watching The Unit this week. Old
timers might remember the one-act play I wrote from volume 1 or 2. In it,
I am trying to set a record time, while being hounded by the dog and wife.
The wife is doing a crossword and asking for help. The following dialogue
occurs:

HER: “A manatee’s cousin.” Starts with d.

(The man doesn’t answer. The roadster is back on the road, hitting the
second split time in 1:26)

HER: Did you hear me?

(The roadster misses a hard left and cuts across a wide expanse of grass.
Almost like it is mowing the lawn)

HIM: What?!?
HER: Sorry. I didn’t know if you heard me. Starts with d ends in n-g.
HIM: Dugong.
HER: No, really.
HIM: Really.
HER: It fits.
HIM: Of course. It’s right.


Now, the reason I thought of you during The Unit. While waiting to
assassinate some terrorist, one of the characters is doing a crossword
puzzle. And yes, he asks the Haysbert character for help. And, doggone it,
the answer is Dugong.

Okay, weird coincidence? Or are one of you guys a screenwriter for a major
network television show?

Budget Rider™ - Pontiac GTO vs. Holden Monaro
Part ll

William and I kept in touch over the years, I ended up becoming a mining
engineer like my Dad and “Big Willy” owned a chain of Pontiac dealerships
on the West coast. Using his contacts,he arranged to freight my beloved
Monaro to his dealer in San Diego. This ensured my Car was available
during my frequent trips and was well cared for to boot.
This trip I was taking my son along as I was going to have a bit of spare
time after finishing a short term consult.
My son stayed with William and his son for a couple of days and had a
great time, as usual. As it happened I had arrived to meet up with
everyone on Halloween, and we thought it would be great fun to let the
boys go “Trick or Treating’ together.
Dressed as Alien and Predator the boys set off to terrorise the
neighbourhood.
“Okay that’s the young un’s sorted, now for the old farts, I have a new
toy to show you” said William.
He took me to a large shed attached to his local dealers workshop. “Check
out this latest bit of Aussie ingenuity, only got it set up yesterday”. I
looked at my Monaro and a Pontiac GTO sitting on two rolling dyno beds
next to each other in front of a large projection screen.”With this, real
cars can have virtual races on any drag strip, road circuit or rally track
projected onto the high definition screen. Each cars actual throttle,
brake, and steering data is calculated and the virtual track responds in
real time”.
“Wanna race ?” said William punching a large red button marked -
Nürburgring Nordschleife.
“Too right mate ! I am gonna kick your skinny ass !”
“Huh, I will be flat out like a lizard drinking and you will see nothing
but bulldust ya big wombat.I have already checked the stats on each car
and they are pretty evenly matched except yours has had an oil change and
I have added your extra 100 pounds, you hippo.”
“At least my Car has not been on a steady diet of Big Macs !!”

So we raced and we raced and we raced, swapping cars and doing one crazy
lap after another.
Overall it was close ,very close. The Monaro just shading it due mainly to
a more flexible gearbox, both have six speeds but the Pontiac never got
into top gear.
Both Cars were surprisingly nimble for relatively heavy beasts, with
plenty of pickup and excellent manners through all the ‘Ring could throw
at us.
The Pontiac had the better brakes, powerful but with good feel, but the
Monaro was not far behind in the anchor department. Although based on the
Monaro, the Pontiac is considerably cheaper and would probably shade it
based on “More Bang for your Buck”. Excellent Cars.

Monaro – 8 ‘ 04 . 494
Pontiac – 8 ‘ 05 . 781
No perfectly clean laps due to laughing too much.

BTW – This technology is real and in use in Oz as we speak.
People can rock up in their Car, modified or not, register, then “Race”
without danger or moving an inch.Pretty cool eh ?

First time posting in this Volume. Still no 'ring news
here. I finally complete 8h Motegi, gave up being fair and used the f'n
Ram for 200pts. Only finished 12 laps ahead. Then I got Bully yesterday,
kinda got hooked on it. It is the first game I've gotten since GT4 came
out, so it is understandable.

Budget Rider™ - Suzuki Escudo Dirt Trial Car ’98.

It is just as well this Car is designed for off road because that is where
you will spend most of your time without a lot of “Kid Gloves” driving.
Knowing Lucky to be the Sadist he is I decided to get in first and have a
play around with some setups before he drops us in it.
Therefore I fitted N2’s ( which worked surprisingly well ), upped the
brake balance a bit (10,8) ballast at – 50 and then turned it into a 90%
RWD with the variable diff control. I tried both aids on and off, not a
lot in it as far as “ease” of driving but I left TCS at 7.
I doubt we will get that particular luxury when the time comes !

Best lap – 6 ‘ 53 . 219

Could not manage a clean lap but came pretty close, got too close to the
Armco approaching Angstkurve, mowed through some grass on the downhill
after Plantzgarten and understeered straight off the exit of the small
karussel. On the whole pretty pleased with that.
If you do a run, watch the replay with volume way up, the wind noise as
the Suzuki gets down and boogies is positively scary. I have been on high
speed trains in Europe and it sounds exactly the same.
I await Lucky's setup with fear and trembling.

Fantastic Four Weekend Riders.

The Thing – Aston Martin DB9 – Built like a brick dunny, aint no one going
to kick sand in this beasts face.

Mr. Fantastic – BMW M5 – strong, sensible type, very flexible. Hidden
depths of brutality if stirred up.

Invisible Girl – E-Type Jaguar – Svelte, attractive, but will blindside
you and kick major butt if provoked.

The Human Torch – Ford GT ’05 – Young, brash, excitable but will set your
shorts on fire if you are not careful.

Hey all. Haven't had the PS2 hooked up for a while, but I'm
starting to get "the itch" again lately. Is Mr. P's sub-5 ring-run still
up and running at some website. Seeing his setup in another thread has
made me want to give it a shot. I'd also like to see the vid to remember
where he was able to keep it flat out. 5'14 is still the best I've gotten,
but that was just by raising the ride-height to the max and softening the
springs to the max, leaving everything else at default. Anyway, if someone
has the link to the vid, I'd appreciate if you'd post it.

pretty powerful for its weight but overall unstable and hard to control.

The Triathalon, that's one of the spaceships, right? I
can't say that I have. Are you nominating it for WR?

I took the DB9 for a few laps. ViTG's declaring it to be "The Thing"
pushed me over the edge. It took me a good half hour to get the PS2
reconnected, but I'm glad I did. My rust showed, as I only managed an 8'04
on N3's, but I enjoyed the lap, and am looking forward to more (might even
break out the bikes again).

back to 16), then adjust each gear. You might have to set the FD to 5.5
first, then change the AS, then reset the FD to 5.3, then adjust each
gear; I can't remember for sure.

ASM (U): 0
TCS: 0

Feel free to add a few points of TCS, but I made my run with the aids at
0. Using TCS does slow you down, but so does wheelspin. It all depends on
how light your throttle foot/thumb is.

--- Downforce ---

--- Limited Slip ---
IT: 25
LSA: 20
LSD: 55

--- Weight Balance ---
BW: 20
F/RB: -50

This makes the car a lot more stable under braking and during entry, and
is the "secret weapon" of my setup. Set the ballast to 0 if you think
it'll slow you down, but (from my experience) the negatives aren't
noticeable and the positives are huge.

There you have it. As with any setup, it may need some tweaking here and
there to adjust for variances from driver to driver, but it should be a
fairly solid, neutral setup for anyone. The best way to fine-tune it to
suit you will probably be the damper settings and the LSD; most of the
rest should probably stay where it is.

Hmm. The Fantastic Four of WRs, huh? I'll have to think
about that one. The Spyker would definitely get my vote for Dr. Doom,
though; I had a way easier time learning the Yellow Bird than I did the
Spyker. That damn Peugeot rally car would be up there if we included RRs,
but at least you could adjust the downforce on that thing.

Oldguy- Looks like VitG did my job for me. Oh, well; I'll add what I can.

Honestly, any corner that you'd think could be taken flat-out can be. Any
corner you think needs a slight lift can be taken flat-out as well. Most
of the corners you want to brake for should be taken flat out. Half of the
difficulty in getting a 5'00 lap is convincing your brain that your left
foot doesn't exist and your right is glued to the floor (assuming you
two-foot it like I do, that is).

There are some spots that you'll have trouble (some are the standard "race
cars suck here" ones and others are unique to the FGT); Miss-Hit-Miss,
Breidscheid, the kink after Mutkurve, Brunnchen to Pflanzgarten II (the
whole last third of the track, really), Galgenkopf, and the final chicane
are all places to watch out for.

If you watch the video, any place I lift throttle is probably a place you
can go flat out. For as fast as it is, I was pretty conservative through
all my regular trouble spots, since the last thing I wanted to do was blow
another on-pace run.

Just a note; my best lap previous to the week or so I spent grinding for
five minutes was like 5'11 or something like that. At some point, I
realized that all I had to do was string together a near-perfect run; I
was consistently getting around 5'05 at that point. What I'm trying to say
(rather poorly) is once you get near to 5'00, all it takes is patience.

my nomination for WR is the Triathalon Race Car, and for RR
it is the RENAULT 5 Maxi Turbo Rally Car '85. I took it to the 'ring a few
days ago and man is it fun to drive there! as long as you don't push its
limits too far (like I have a habit of doing) you'll be fine. I
deliberately tried to slide it (hey, it's a Group B rally car, and those
slid alot while on pavement! ofcourse, they didn't have TCS on and they
weren't running R1 tires, but still!) and I ended up mowing the grass in
pretty much every corner I slid through enough to require countersteering.
I think I should have disabled TCS before trying that, no? someone on
another board (which has a giant GT4 topic) mentioned that it is one of
the cars where you can roll down the windscreen ~ you look through the
side windows more than the windscreen lol!

Regarding the rumble feature... It was a cool feature, but
after awhile, for me at least, it sort of faded into the background and I
barely even noticed it anymore. The force feedback was a DFP feature
wasn't it? Since I never had one, I don't really have an opinion on that.

Agreed, but on some level the foot chase in the beginning
was better than most car chases I've seen. Which leads me to this
question:

What are some of your favorite movie car chases? Are any of the cars in

For movie chase duplication:

Always liked The French Connection- but the cars were beaters in that
film. Not easy to recreate.

Bullit has a fantastic chase as well- McQueen's '68 Mustang is absent, but
the '65 Shelby Mustang GT 350R fills the role nicely. The Black Charger is
there; best track to approximate streets of San Francisco would be
Seattle.

The best thing about the Bullitt chase scene is the black
VW Bug that shows up in several different shots. I had no idea Bug's are
so damn fast.

Side note- That's my dad's favorite movie so for christmas last year, my
bro took the cover of the DVD, scanned it on his computer and made a shirt
for him. So awesome.

To each his own. But I think I can speak for most "ringers"
when I say we are much more interested in driving fast and/or interesting
cars on the 'ring than playing around with programing flaws. It's kinda
cool to see that could be done, but no, I haven't felt the desire to try
it for myself.

Just my humble opinion.

I was just talking to my son, and he said that the rumors
are that it will be very expensive to own GT5. The console is $600. HD
cables will cost $100. You must be connected to the internet, and then
they will charge 50 cents for each car and something for each track, and
in order to achieve 100% completion those items will add up to an
additional $900.

I'm pretty skeptical about internet rumors, so I don't necessarily believe
that. But if it is true, it seems they'll be cutting their own throats.
Very few people will be willing to put out that kind of dough, even for a
game a great as GT5 is sure to be.

GT5 was already a longshot for me; we have an XBox 360 at
my house. The only game that will be PS3 exclusive that I want to play is
GT5. Is all that worth it for one game? Almost every other franchise will
be on the 360 too. And Oldguy, did you see they're getting rid of force
feedback?

if you buy the G25, which i most definitely am it will
still have full force feedback on all the racing games, personally i don't
care for rumble, i used to forget it was even there and often i'd find
myself playing a few hours on a game only to find at the end that it was
turned off, and i didn't give a damn

Hey everybody,
Have been really busy lately no time to post, let alone drive anything.
Managed a few laps in a tournament at Gamespot but that has been it for
ages.

Car chases - would have to agree the "Bullitt' chase is a rip roarer, the
Shelby 350 vs. Dodge Charger would be a good match for a BR perhaps ?

There is another film you might have heard of - "The Driver" - despite
Ryan O'Neal putting in a rather wooden performance ( he makes Trees look
positively hyperactive ), there is a rather good chase towards the end of
the film. I cannot remember the Car's involved exactly but our hero is
driving some sort of hotted up pickup truck.

Of course, who could ever forget the "Blues Brothers" Demolition Derby Car
chase - "It's night and we are wearing sunglasses". Brilliant.

BTW - welcome back Omicron, I guess you have been busy too.Now all we need
is Amar and Flibutz to rock around and we are set.
I will do my best to catch up with the Triathalon and Peugeot 205 and post
a few pix asap.
As far as the new PS3 and GT5 go I will not have the chance to buy them
until March 2007at least I should have some good information on them by then
if anyone here gets one.

I just posted a few pics I took from the SF Int'l auto show
this past weekend. I had more, but they came out blurry or dark.

Ugliest car at the show- Chrysler Imperial It desparately wants to be a
Rolls Royce Phantom, but fails miserably. When I first saw it, I was
thinking it's only gonna appeal to one group of people, then noticed there
was nothing but black guys gathered around it, talking about how it'd look
with spinners.

Hey Ciscrack, nice photo's.
I saw a Car about a year ago with a set of high quality wheels with
Spinners, not bad.
Since then all the Bogans have been fitting their Holden Gemini's ( don't
ask ) with cheap plastic ones. The bearings seize up after about a month
and they look really naff.
BTW I liked the Snow shots as well.

Muse - thanks for checking out the vid. I love a bit of nostalgia
occasionally.
I think the Brands you are trying to remember are either "Vector" or
"Venturi", which turn into pretty good Race Cars from memory.

the Venturi Atlantique 600 LM race car. That thing was crazy fast. Like,
crazy. Shame Polyphony dropped the marque, but it's not the worst thing
they've done.

Do you know ,I do not think I have touched a Saleen, not
since the licence test anyway.
That was such a gruesome experience I probably purged the memory from my
data banks and then denied there even was such a thing as a Saleen !

substitute that with the AC Cobra in Arcade mode? Well either way, the

If you use the Shelby, you must buy the FC transmission and
"widen" the gears. The AC is just fine as is, but an FC tranny wouldn't
hurt it. Both are in league with the devil, much like the Yellowbird.

DB9's. Lust, drool, can you just imagine it , driving it at the 'Ring ?

Currently driving an FGT at Suzuka in that tournament at Gamespot I
mentioned before.
Arcade mode, full mods, yikes! I am seriously going to need therapy after
this one is over.

I have been thinking about setting up a BR for the Holiday period,
something to keep us entertained for Christmas. I will get back with
details later. Of course if anyone else has any ideas please jump in.
For those who follow it, final race of the V8 Supercars was on today (
missed the racing ) at Phillip Island. Champion still not decided due to
protests, as an advocate of "Fair Play" I know who I think should win.
We'll see.

Well, according to my sources there are Nine Reindeer.
So minimum Horsepower for this challenge will be 9 * 60 Hp = 540 Hp.

Hey, all. Figured I'd de-ghost to say hello and answer Muse's questions.
I'm curious about the BR, too, but that'll have to wait.

Fastest WR: Probably the Ford GT. I can't think of many cars in the game
that could match it. Maybe the HPA, but I doubt it.

My choice for Christmas (big surprise here...): An Alpine A110. I couldn't
resist; it's just too damn cool.

My choice to give as a gift: Did we ever do the Spitfire as a WR? I'd get
one of those for my dad. It might not be the '50-whatever MG he wants, but
it's as close as GT4 has (which is kinda a sore spot with me; I'd love to
have a MG vs. Triumph vs. Etc. event). If we didn't, I'd have to go out on
a limb and say the Jaguar E-Type.

On an unrelated note, I came this close to buying a seafoam green '72 Fiat
500. Didn't have the cash, though (good thing I didn't; I probably
couldn't have resisted).

Fastest WR- IMO the Audi Le Mans Quattro

Gift for me- I would say the Superbird, but it's too rare and classic to
consider putting any miles on it. Then I would say the Yellowbird, but
then I'll wonder if the giver wants me dead. And that would be the likely
result of driving it for about 5 mins. So I'd have to go with the
Vanquish, fast, luxurious, pretty and probably a much more stable drive
than the 'birdie.

Gift to give- For my brother would be the Lancia Stratos or Lotus Elan. He
already has a '61 Mini, a late 60's Datsun 411, an '81 Puma and then his
luxurious '93? Subie Impreza. Most of the cars I would really buy for him
if I could afford it aren't in the game, so that would be my choices.

G'Day all,
Fastest WR ? - I would have to agree with the Ford GT ,but as a novice
'Ringer at the time the Cadillac Cien was PDQ ( pretty damn quick).

I would buy myself an E-Type Jaguar no question, always wanted one from
about 5 years of age.

Giveaway WR ? - I was going to say a Yellowbird for Ciscrack but after
reading his post he might think I have it in for him !!
So I will go with a Fiat 500 for Mr. Pinstripes instead. A much safer
call.

Santa's Little Helper Budget Rider™

Rudolph has done it this time.
The long night of delivering was nearly over too, just a few deliveries at
Adenau, a couple of Villages around Nürburg and Santa could call it a
night.
That was until Rudolph spotted the "Adenau Egg Nog & Karaoke Bar".
"Hey let’s pop in there for a quick snort " said Rudolph. Big mistake.

Santa returns to find his Sled unattended and what sounds like a riot
happening in a nearby Bar. Peering through the window he looks on a scene
of total devastation.
Blitzen is blitzed, Dasher is trying to pick a fight with some Japanese
businessmen, and Cupid is absolutely blind and chatting up a hat stand in
the corner. Comet is crying drunk and belting out his version of “My Way”
on the stage. Rudolph is unconscious on the floor, his nose glowing and
filling the Bar with an eerie Red Light.

“Scheisse” says Santa, “WTF do I do now?”
Then he spots YOUR Car outside the Bar.

Santa's Little Helper Budget Rider™

So you agree to help Santa out by giving him a ride, but time is short and
this will be no easy task.
Your Car can be any one you chose except Racecars.
You have had an unlimited Budget to develop your Car; no expense has been
spared.
Due to the Magic of Christmas, Santa Claus and his Toysack add no weight
to your car.

As you fire up your Pride and Joy and Santa squeezes into the passenger
seat, he informs you that to finish his nights work you have only 7 ‘ 15
to complete a lap of the Nürburgring. He will take care of dropping of the
presents along the way, no stops.

“7 ‘ 15 ? a piece of Cake” I hear you say, “That’s a doddle. Vitg has
really lost the plot this time” are some of the more printable comments,
BUT there is a twist.

A real Christmas needs Snow and Ice ( we could sure use some here to put
those damn bushfires out !) so –

You will need to complete one lap of Ice Arena as well.
Total combined time target - 7 ‘ 15 or less.You may detune your Car for
the Ice lap, but no less than 540 Hp.
Cookies awarded for clean laps.

Good Luck and try not to kill Santa.

It is Christmas Eve here in Oz, so I am off shortly for some Family get
togethers, which will involve copious quantities of food and alcohol. So I
would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas,

Santa's little helper BR

Mulling over my choices for this event, I couldn't figure out which car
would be most capable of completing the trip in the alloted time. And to
make the diecision a little more difficult was trying to find a car that I
was allowed to put snow tires on. I thought about using a Viper, but was
unsure of stability at high speeds at Nurb'. My faved Yellowbird would end
up killing Santa in a heartbeat. A Subaru? No. Ok, fine, I'll go with a
Skyline even though I don't really want to. So I took my special Ciscrack
Flyin' Skyline Edition 2002 GT-R V-Spec II Nur. Upgrade to the max w/ race
exhaust, chip, original turbo/intercooler, port polish, engine balance,
displacemnet up, drivetrain mods, weight redux, brakes and R5's. Hp listed
at 868.
I really don't want to tell the whole story of not killing Santa. I don't
want to relive that experience as I don't want to spend the next 10 yrs.
in therapy. I did it. it wasn't easy, and the car's a little bashed up,
but all the children are happy.
Time 6'22.880


Ice Arena
At some of the higher delivery points on the trip, I noticed snow falling
and the road becoming increasingly more white. I pulled over to de-tune my
Santa's Sleigh of Doom. I open up the hood, pulled off some of the velcro
strips on my engine, replacing the original turbo w/ a stage 2 and I
stripped the chip. And of course I had to pull out the set on snow tires I
had stashed in the super secret compartment in the trunk(I've had 12 dead
bodies..... errr... forget that). SO now I'm riding w/ 555hp.
I'm glad this section was short, cause if it was any longer, I might've
had a heart attack. And Santa as well. The rear bumper did exactly what
it's name says it should, but there weren't any really hard bumps. I
finally got through w/ Santa finishing his deliveries in 51.037

Total time 7'13.917

Bartender! One bourbon, one scotch, one beer!

I saw your request last night and knew I had already tried
that challenge during my original 1000 mile journey, but I couldn't
remember the time. So late last night I went to check, and try it again to
see if I could improve it a little. The previous time was 54.700. After a
few failed attempts at completing a lap, I finally got the hang of it
enough to make it all the way around w/o crashing. I still cut a couple
corners too close, riding up on the snow bank slightly, but no serious
impacts. New time was 53.759.

No Cookies for vitg, but after watching Santa lose his after some
particularly violent manoeuvres, that is not such a bad thing. At least
there were no fatalities !

Nice work Ciscrack, it will be interesting to see which Car’s will be
selected.
You went for brute power and bulk, I went for lithe finesse with my TVR
Cerbera Speed Six.
I was a bit concerned when even fully pumped I “only” had 585 HP. However
I fluked on a really good setup and the thing just flew.Safest lap 6 ‘ 17
. 225.

Also got caught in the same blizzard as Ciscrack, luckily Santa had some
Snow Tyres in his bottomless Sack. I had lost my smick exhaust though,
torn off when lawnmowing and due to Santa’s little chuckle my electric’s
were fried. My wing had also vanished somewhere along the way and I was
down to 547 HP, would it be enough ?

I need not have worried; the mighty Cerbera handled the Snow and Ice
easily
56 . 093. Made it with over a second to spare, Christmas was saved !!

Although wide eyed and looking a bit pale, Santa was suitably grateful.
“You may keep the Snow tyres as a gift from me as well as some advice, DO
NOT give up your day job”.

And with that he was gone.

It appears that Santa made a record of his 'Ring adventure
( probably for insurance purposes ). Now I know how he gets the job done

G'day Souli, good to hear from you. I thought you might go for the
Carlton, your favorite Car.
I wonder how it would go in the BR ?

Not much free time since going back to work, but it is Sunday here so I am
going to get the chance to do a few Hot laps ( or Lukewarm maybe ) in the
GT1 GT2 & GT3 Tournament I have entered.Should be interesting.
BTW I have four Cerbera Speed Six. Also 12 E-Type Jags !
I will be making some replay vids of my efforts in the GS tourney, I will
keep you posted.

driven the CTR2 at the Ice Arena? It might be just the place for that

Santas Little helper BR (can't do the TM thing....)

I just rode in in my Viper Srt-10 when I saw santa outside the bar he told
me about what had happened, so I offered him a ride in my 915HP
Viper(modded with Racing supention Transmission Flywheel you know the
rest.....may not have gotten it exactly) and we went around the 'Ring.
Santa almost had a heart attack because of the speed and power of the
viper and yet I was only able to pull a 6'19.455 man even I couldn't
control it all the way through. Then it happened, Rudolph actually got on
top of the car and cracked the chip, and mess up the enging, not to
mention the wing and Muffler, but I still had my Supercharger with me to
give it 641HP(I think...) but I found some snow tires along the way as
Like Ciscrack and Viperinthegrass there was a blizzard in the way so I
went to the area and despite the Viper being tough to control I managed a
53.876 Christmas was saved, and Santa was relieved.

Not the best story but oh well.............

I have not driven a "pimped" SRT 10, only the cooking version, but I can
see how it would be a real handfull. I might even try it out and see how I
go.

Well ! I am astounded, it has not even been a week since
our last counselling session and it appears you have already forgotten our
rules. Which, may I remind you, are -

1. I will not act like a spoiled brat.
2. Throwing a tantrum will not get me what I want.
3. I must not poke Gamer with a stick during recess because I am jealous.
4. My Counsellor does not play "Favorites".

If you want a Merit Badge , you must earn it, the same as everybody else,
by -
Complete a "Licence Test Clean" sub 8 minute lap using a stock Viper SRT
10 fitted with N2's.
