i have seen some threads on a GTA board i go to on occasion
with over a thousand page man, and still going strong....

anyway, anyone doing the WR/RR *I'm guessing that what the Streamliner
is*? I can't I'm getting my GT4 DVD fixed today...

yea the A4 wins, the reason why the A4 had beat the CLK by
ten seconds was becasue i was driving like crap (just watched the replay)
but i just finished racing 1 lap for each car, i must say that my driving
was flawless and one of the best driving i have done in this game, and the
A4 beat it by 3 seconds. it would be great if anyone else can still do
this challenge to verify my hypothesis. BTW both cars were not personally
tuned, just fully modded

ex. got nitrous but left it alone, uh didnt change anyhting from the race
settings basically. just bought all the stuff with RSS tires and went
straight to race it, i will write up a report as soon as i get home and
watch my replays

MY WR REPORT ON THE
QUATTRO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

This car was a little surprising. I didn't suspect a car with ~200
horsepower to be so agile off the line. However, I shouldn't have been
surprised. 4wd always gives good jump off the line. The top speed was also
better than suspected. The car was pretty stable through the high-speed
sections, much like you would expect a German car to be. However, I
encountered some understeer on application of the throttle, but again,
this shouldn't have surprised me, as (I think, anyway) I reasoned out why
it was happening.

After a couple laps (don't remember the times, did this a couple days ago)
I decided to take this a little further. I dusted off the Le Mans Quattro
concept (number 152 on my driven list) and took that for a spin to compare
the technology of the times. The LeMans Quattro has a tad more horsepower
than the '82 (but just a tad!), but it handled in much the same way. It
was stable on the high speed sections, but understeered on application of
the throttle. Quattro still makes for a rocket off the line, even 20 odd
years later.

I have to say, both of these cars were pretty fun to drive in their own
way.

try the mercedes 190e touring car, thats alot of fun

and IMHO its one of the best handling cars EVAR

im proud to say that becasue i own a mercedes 190e, just not an evo or
touring, not even a cosworth, just a regular 2.3 but it still kicks major
arse being over 23 years old (its an 84) and with over 300,000 original
miles on it

seruiously it is a diamond in the rough

it has only seen 3 winters in NY (salt)

i grew up with that and i love it to death, my parents seriously
contemplated about selling it and i started to cry, for real

it was the first car i got to drive in, and it was the first car in which
i learned to drive stick with.

G’Day all,
Got myself organised to do the Audi Quattro ’82 WR™ and sotoakech9091’s
A4 / CLK challenge.

The Audi Quattro was WR™ before my time so it is all new to me. Good
choice.
I agree with Nightmare, it is a great little drive, that was a clever idea
running it next to its modern version as well.
An excellent 4wd setup, stable and with lots of grip.Power on understeer
as you would expect but not as bad as some modern 4wd’s ( <cough>
Skylines<cough> ).
Nice easily controlled power on oversteer on tap.
In fact, run stock I noticed the ASM / TCS were very unobtrusive, the Car
being very neutral in handling and extremely stable.

With aids off, more punch but understeer coming to the forefront if pushed
too hard.
Lap 1 bone stock + Oil – 8 ‘ 49 . 963
Lap 2 stock, all aids off + Oil – 8 ‘ 42 . 888
Have not had a chance to try N2’s yet.

Lap time – 5 ‘ 57 . 177 ( lost about 2 seconds with a slight excursion
just after Breidsheid).


Not much between these two, both very fine Cars.
I think the CLK is the faster Racecar though, somehow it feels just that
bit more stable and planted on the road. Don’t get me wrong the Audi is
fine, just had that hint that it could all get pear shaped very quickly.
Very exciting to drive.

The times are always going to be close, who knows, tomorrow might put in a
ripper lap in the Audi and nail the CLK. Doubt it though.

viper thats some pretty good times, good work

both cars handle amazingly well, but the only thing i gotta is when the go
airborne when i reach the pinncale of a hill. their weight is extremely
light which is not what i am used to. but take-off and handling wise i
gotta say the a4 wins by the slightest hair.

I find discretion is the better part of valour when
approaching crests which send you airborne.
I find braking briefly , but firmly, just before the jump, shifts the
weight forward and settles the Car and makes it more stable on landing.
It is all about timing. Give it a try.

@ Tupac: I believe the Le Mans Quattro is the prize car
from the Audi TT one-make

@soto: I love the Merc Evo 190E Touring Car. It's fun to drive and does
quite a bit without as much power as its competitive. That's the car I
used to win the DTCM for points (~127 pts stock, IIRC). But then I love
most all touring cars.

Viper: If you make no steering adjustments whilst in air,
you can land just about any get-air crest in the Ring....unless you are
driving a RR, which will F you up the arse....

Far as I know, the TT tourer is eligible. If it's not, I
think the TT with the larger engine is <50,000 cr and doesn't need any
upgrades to win, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Just to drop in, I haven't had much time to play because of
my job, I did 3-4 endurance races a week or 2 ago, but lately I haven't
had much time, and, this being my first job, I've been concentrating on
that and getting money together to go to Massachusetts for a Junior A
tryout in Ice Hockey, so I've been a bit tied up. If anyone has aim and
all the archives of the previous diaries, I'd love to get them later and
read through them.

P.S. The Sabres bottomed out in the clutch and so did the Red Wings, so
now I don't have a team to route for in the Cup Finals. Ick.

Too bad the Flames didn't have the good sense to drop dead
when they should have at the end of the season... the the Wings would have
gotten destroyed by the Avs in the first round... I guess my point is at
least you had someone to root for going into the playoffs... ;-)

HEY! don't be down talking the Canadian teams! *I'm
Canadian, so to the rescue!* Y'all yankees have had er for 14 years now,
so suck it up and stop whinin.... Canada is the country that invented the
fuggin sport, so we deserve it. Plus, most of those Yankee teams have more
than half Canadians anyway, you guys can just pay more for em....too bad.

Good on Ottawa. they've had enough years of choking in the playoffs after
stellar seasons....

And the Sabres didn't suddenly "Bottom out", they were outplayed in every
game. Miller was the only reason they even had the slightest chance
against Ottawa.....They had trouble eliminating NEW YORK for gods
sake.....

Vancouver....eh....they just killed themselves with no powerplay.....i
mean 1 for 26? then again, the Sabres weren't much better *snicker*


On the topic of the Ring.....I did some laps with the Le mans
Quattro.....stellar car...i love it already....

NOTE: i will be finishing my Peugeot 905 review once I'm done getting my
picture album up, and i'm in a dramatic mood....since the lap is
dramatized...severely

To be fair I think Ottawa deserves it(seriously, who cares
about the Ducks anyway).... I just think the Avalanche deserve it more...

On topic: I may have to set up the table and race this long weekend, too
bad that means doing licenses and cups trying to get back to where I was
before(54%).

Tupacrulez- A short minute of history for you. Oldguy1957
picked the Audi Le Mans as a WR quite some time ago, probably over a year
ago. After several reviews, everyone loved the car, but it was mentioned
that it has a little too much power for its own good. The very next week
was my turn to pick a WR and I stumbled across the Acura DN-X(prize car
for all silvers on A license). It was pretty much what was asked for, very
similar handling, just a little less power. If you happen to have one or
aquire one and take it for a drive, also listen to the exhaust note. It
sounds like a jet taking off or something.

I haven't really been keeping up with news on new cars
lately, but I just decided to do a little research on the Audi Le Mans to
fi nd out what the story is behind it. It looks so much like the Bugatti
Veyron and thought it might've been a concept to it. Naw, it's gonna be
released as the R8. I'm sure some of you guys already know that, but it
seems like an awesome deal for the price. 420hp based on a Lamborghini
Gallardo platform, with a production run of only 200 for $109,000USD? Wish
I had that kinda cash to pre-order one.

hey, you never know, a down payment is usually 10-15% i
think, so 15 grand would be a down payment, and then set up a monthly
plan....normal dealers do it lol....

I don't know where i can get a DN-X......but he Le mans Is
awesome.....nothing but power and speed.....*drools* I don't find it has
to much power, when you knwo how to use it...much the SL65 AMG really.

much power. But then, it's got AWD, so it handles it better than a FR
would.

Hey all, i got warned, so i ain't been around to reply
much...

Anyway, sorry for missing the DNX way of acquisition, my bad....I'll get
on it, i don't think i bothered to get all silver on a....

anyway, my pictures are here:

I'm not much for the whole "car closeup" idea, so i take much more scenic
pictures. showing off the track more than the car really, which is why we
are all here, the track.....

So i suggest a sub album, of mostly pictures which really show off the
scenic abilities of the Ring....you really can get some beautiful
pictures....

Lastly: i would like to say that the Le mans quattro was probably one of
the best straight stock cars I've taken to the Ring, that isn't a race
car....with some better tires, i wouldn't even have to tweak a
thing.....very fun to drive

So over the next couple of days, i won't be posting near as much....stupid
warns.....

50's, including footage of SIDECAR RACES. No Armco, two men on a
motorcycle, one of whom's job is to hang off the thing like a madman so it
can go faster? Insane. But also, really cool, and vintage footage of the
track is always neat.

Hey all. Just makein' a quick appearance to voice my
pleasure in seeing some people enjoy my old WR pick (Audi LeMans Quattro).
I actually picked that the week after the last LeMans race, where the new
Audi Diesel won. I, too, thought it was bit overpowered, but otherwise a
lot of fun.

The comment was made that it doesn't really have too much power if you
know how to use it. Well, I have to admit that's true, if you mean, you
don't HAVE to use all the power, all the time! That, however, kinda goes
against my nature, and I believe the nature of most of the "old regular
ringers". I mean, you're sitting in a chair...not strapped into the actual
car. So, my instinct, taking that into consideration, is to keep the thing
matted, and make every attempt to keep it on the track!! Even the Spyker
(which was also my pick, BTW) can be tamed if you behave yourself with the
throttle usage.

My point, I guess, is that there is really no such thing as being
"overpowered". But there are a few cars that are a bit suicidal if a
person refuses to use common sense in throttle application, which is an
affliction that I have to admit I am quite guilty of.

Anyway, I haven't had the game out recently because we re-arranged the
house a couple months ago so that it's a little inconvenient to hook up
the PS2 to the Big-screen. There's no place to put the console and the DFP
other than the middle of the living room floor, which my wife thinks is
tacky, and I tend to agree with her. So one of these days I'll probably
hook it back up in my son's room and invade his domain occasionally to
play. But until then, I'll probably just remain lurking.

I will be gone for a few days....the mods are continually moddin my
posts....perhaps a little breather will get them off my case.....i'm now
up to FOUR warns in a single week, don't ask me how, or i may get warned

the DNX wasn't worth the work it took to get it....terrible car....the
engine sound was nice, although not enough to save it from my scrap heap
of other Japanese cars.... didn't even need a full lap to know i didn't
like it....

Be seeing y'all in a few days, maybe THEN i won't get modded for every
bloody post....

Anyway, I thought the DN-X was an OK car. Handling wasn't terrible, decent

I didn't really like the Nuvolari when I drove it the one

oh well, i got 6 messages i can post, 3 in each hour lol, so i might as
well make it count.....

anyway, i tried out the novulari quattro on the Ring.....no where NEAR as
good as the Le mans.....it was total...wait i better be careful how i say
this....gotta "Control myself"

wasn't as good as teh civic....teh civic is the pwnz0rs....

in all honesty though, it' really wasn't as good as i was expecting....i
hope no one judges the Le mans quattro based upon their experience with
the Novulari....*jumps back into Le mans quattro* *speeds away*

Hey all, still on my semi hiatus, so I'm posting less and
less, trying to "fly under the radar" as it were....

Anyway, i decided to have a taste of some old school muscle, so i took my
Cuda out for a day at the Ring...

I was pleasantly surprised.....being that I've had the "it doesn't turn
for crap" phrase hammered into my head for the American Muscle cars, this
was a surprise to say the least...

the car didn't sound exactly right, as i thought it should have had a
lower rumble, then the higher pitched engine note it comes
with....however, runnign stock with zero tuning on the tire it comes with,
i ran a good lap, coming in just under 9 minutes...nothing spectacular,
hell, I've run better with many a car, however, on those i spent a good 2
hundred grand....here i spent nothing...with some money invested, i could
maybe run sub 8:40's possibly edging into the 8:30's....although there was
no downforce adjustment, despite a rear wing stock, the car handled much
better than what i was expecting....

however, with only 4 gears, and a top speed stock of around 196 KM, with
it dropping to 188 when the revvs get too high, top speed was the cars
downfall, even though it had impressive for the day torque and
acceleration....the Cuda just didn't have the top speed for dottinger
hohe, and the other straights....however, with some gear tuning and
perhaps a little power added, she could definitely set some better
times....

Also the suspension is naturally soft, and the car naturally high, so that
was not a problem. also, the car had some self induced oversteer, which
came in very handy indeed....

I've found that, as a general rule, American cars in this
game from the 60s and 70s have some things in common:
1. The engines don't sound deep enough. They need more rumble.
2. They handle surprisingly well, and much better than you'd expect.
3. Acceleration is awesome and
4. Adding an FC tranny is an essential upgrade if you want to race it.

I love driving those old Mopars, especially the Superbird and the Super
Bee with the Hemi. Lots of good fun on the Ring.

sup guys, back, unwarned and ready to get back to playing
the game and posting...

Note: my last reviews were for replays only, and not newly done
laps...still they were done recently enough, so i don't think theres any
real difference....

The biggest thing i noticed about the muscle cars was the lack of the 69
and 70 charger.....they look way better than the 71, as i recall....but
yeah the engine noise was definitely lacking some rumble

Hey tupac, pick some one to be the WR selector ( not me as
I did one recently !! ).
Then a few clues and stuff may finish off this volume nicely. We can then
get stuck into the new WR in Volume XVl.

Yeah I'd like to see a new WR before the weekend. I

All right, but you have to guess what it is.

As far as I can tell, this car hasn't been picked before. Here's the
clues:

2 words

1st: A baby eats, sleeps, poops and ________ + spanish for "to read,"
minus one E

2nd: Fore part of a boat, not to be confused with the bow + (crawler -
crawl)

Answer comes tomorrow!
