I finally got some quality time with my PS2 today (the first time since August T_T), which means that it's time for the DoubleDipper Weekend Rider Report
Nike One 2022
Has anyone taken a look at the power curve for this thing? It's listed at ~250 hp, but has nearly 400 lb-ft of torque. And it's not so much a curve as 2 plateaus that cover the entire powerband. This makes gears 1-4 almost completely unnecessary. A few minutes on the drag strip tell me that the car is fastest from a standing start in 5th gear. That tells me that this car has a giant glob of torque. Even starting in 8th gear, the car gets to 60 in less than 6 seconds and runs the strip in the low 13's. This is all matched to 750 kg or so. Lightweight + torque glob = much go juice. But on to the Ring.
This car is a handful when you haven't driven for half a month. The transmission gets in the way when you leave it on automatic, which made driving tougher since I'm not used to manual (in game). The car handles admirable well. There is some minor throttle-on understeer, but that's mostly at higher speeds and is to be expected when front drive wheels are involved. I ran a bunch of laps, with my end result at 7'25. That comes out to about 20 seconds worth of improvement, but there's room for more.
Fiat Coupé Turbo Plus
Overall, not a bad car. The front springs must be pretty soft, because there's quite a bit of weight transfer under braking. Other than the ubiquitous FF understeer, this car didn't handle too poorly. It's pretty easy to get the weight to shift and make this car turn if you really want to. The power of the car was adequate, if not spectacular. My lap time was only around 8'47 or so, but I only ran one lap. Pretty good performance and fairly fun to drive for an FF.
