I have to admit that I haven't turned the PS2 on in a couple months. But I promised someone a few months ago that I'd post the link to MrPinstripes' sub-5-minute FGT Nurb run, and then I couldn't find it. I happened to run across it today, so here it is: media.putfile.com/GT4-Nurburgring-4-min-59-secMakes me itch to play again. If you watch it, notice how he nearly bites it just after Mutkurve. It appears to me that he used manual transmission. I don't seem to be able to do that without making mistakes. 5' 14" is still the best I've ever been able to pull off. Anyway, enjoy!

WOW, Sub 6 minutes? Sounds like I need to get my game in shape. I think my fastest is just under 7. Maybe.

That was in a FGT, with his own custom suspension settings.

I think it was me who asked for the vid. Many thanks! As for the R390 Road Car, i found it superb to drive stock. So, I did what any self-respecting tuner would do...suspension, brakes and drivetrain upgrades, wing, S3 tires and a chip/semi racing exhaust. Even smoother! Can't remember the time off the top of my head (I'm at work at the minute). I DO remember both hot laps were ranked in the top ten (and almost every car I race in, I take for a spin on the 'Ring). So it can't be that bad...

Got it in one Nightmare !
Have not even made time to run my own BR. I think a concerted effort to get things moving after Christmas will be my main project.
Might even try and come up with something interesting to do over the Holiday period, we have usually managed to do something at the Diary in previous years.
Any one else got any ideas ?
Later.

I've been thinking of a drift BR, where we find drift setups at GT Vault, tune our cars to the specs listed, then go to town. You'd run one lap stock, then modify the car, keeping the budget spent on it, then run another lap and see how many cr/second you can get, and the lowest wins.

Your post gave me an idea, Shipwreck. We could to a credit/second challenge.
Everyone could start with the same car and an unlimited budget. The goal would be to spend as little money as possible on the car while improving your time by as much as possible. Of course there would need to be an agreed upon benchmark time to which everyone could compare. The winner would be the one who found the best mix of performance and thrift.

Fired up the PS2 last night and loaded GT4 so I could try a few laps in a tournament I have entered. Have only been playing GT3 lately so I was a tad rusty. After setting a satisfactory time for the comp, I thought "hey, as I am in the mood and the cobwebs are gone how about some 'Ringing" As I had not posted anything towards my own BR™ I thought I would start there ( Nissan R390 GT1 RoadCar). I loaded the Ghost replay I had kept and set off. The hotlaps for the tournament really helped as I did okay, the 'Ring felt really familiar, so no problem there. The Nissan is very fast and was keeping the adrenalin flowing trying to make sure I kept my Ghost in sight without dying. He got a bit of a break on me during the early part of the lap, I managed to catch him at the Karussel and it was neck and neck all the way to the finish. I finished 1 car length behind in a time of 7 '25 . 582 Not bad after two months break. Of course I had to go again after that and proceeded to punch his ticket with a very clean 7 '21 . 182 Had an absolute blast. Car was run as it comes with only an Oil change and turning off aids the only tweaking. Gearing was a bit low for the flat out sections but otherwise the Nissan performed very nicely stock. Next task will be to run it fully "Pumped" and see what it can do. Nightmare and Shipwreck if you guys want to revive the Credit / Tuning BR™ idea you had before Christmas I will definitely be in.
