June 7th was my b-day so my parents took me to border's to pick out a book, and I practically ran to the auto section... anyways, I got a book on the history of Porsche, and it's really interesting... the 356 is my favorite pre 1970's car.
And I looked in the back, they have a selling price guide, and a "car that requires several parts to fully functionally run, but is otherwise in good condition" will run about $5k-$8k, which seems reasonable.
And on Friday, I saw an E30 M3, but it looked ugly... it had some tailpipe big enough to swallow the driver's ego and it had some fancy headlight things.... Can't people understand the beauty of cars WITHOUT wal-mart spinners?
Also, I'm thinking of getting into karting, as in competition. I've been looking around online and it seems very expensive... I'll have to look deeper.

That's why you have to get really good at karting. Win some events($$$$$$) then you can get that car.
It's possible.

It's possible. hmm.... good point, however I think the starting funds are just out of my reach atm. Chassis- probably runs $400-700 from what I've seen engine- don't really know, my guess is $200-400 or more tires- $50 for each (keyword EACH) set of 4 tires other various parts (brakes, steering assembly, etc.) $200 or more Trailer to move the kart- my guess is $500 or more So that could easily be $2000+ with tax... And then fuel for the kart and entry fees to tracks. Ugh. Not to mention the closest competition track I know of is about 1.5 hours away. But yes, still possible, although I have to be dead SERIOUS about this and my dad thought it would be cool too... I'll have to consider this.

the fancy headlight things are angel eyes, i assume. they look a little odd in the daylight, but at night, they are awesome.
I woulda bought it, if it was decently priced. 1st of all, you can get E30 basketweaves for less than 200, for all 4. second, you can get a stock muffler to replace the gaudy craphole one, for less than a hundred. Belive me, if it was decently priced, ti woulda been absolutely worth it.

btw- I totally didn't think about it before, but June 7 is my best friend from childhoods b-day too. I haven't seen him since we were 17. I know he has a kid that's probably close to 10 yrs old now. I found him on Myspace a couple years ago, mostly just a blank page with very little info and only 1 person on his friend list. I messaged that guy, some thuggy guy in Sac-town, who told me he was in prison. I haven't heard anything since. His mom and step dad moved to one of the Carolinas' several yrs. ago, but last we heard from his mom she had lung cancer. I'm pretty positive she passed because she used to send my mom x-mas cards every year. Anyway, don't want to post a bunch of depressing old news, but I figured there was a shiftupping needed.

Belive me, if it was decently priced, ti woulda been absolutely worth it. I'll assume basketweaves are seats. But yeah, and it had a pretty sweet exhaust note, dunno if there was any engine work done to it or if it was just the magic of a smaller muffler. And it may have been those angel eye things, I'll elaborate. it looked like a plastic/bolt on headlight covers with two little holes, one of them was black and the other one showed through to the headlight. If I were to buy that car, I'd probably remove them because I like the stock headlights on BMWs. Well, if I'm going to get the 944, I'll probably just go with the best running option available, unless they will still sell Porsche 944 parts in 2-6 years. I'm planning to keep it through college, and beyond if it still runs well enough. I'm not too concerned about what it has under the hood, because there are a lot of cheaper ways to add horsepower than to just buy one that is more powerful stock. Also, I'm not really interested in buying this car because I think it "goes fast", I want it because... well, its a Porsche. I say this because yesterday I told my friend about my future 944, and he said, "why don't you just buy a mustang or something newer.... " I told him "Porsche. There is no substitute."

Ok, so the car definitely didn't have angel eyes. They were just bolt-ons you would probably see more fit on some dumbass "street racer" car.

those are terrible examples of angel eyes. Far better example: And those aren't basketweaves either. those are mesh rims. Those are basketweaves, and the E30 M3 was the last BMW model to use em, IIRC. the E34 M5 may have, i can't remember. Also, you can still get '65 911 parts man. The 944 is a popular model. Although I'd advise you that tranny work may be through the ass. The release bearing on a 924 here was 400 bucks, my old man tells me. overall, the E30 M3 is an easier to choice to work on, and live with. the 944 is more of an enthusiasts car, of the two choices you're currently lookin for.

the ones on the M3 I saw definitely were not angel eyes. I'm still not too sure what go for... I've had a lot of people tell em different opinions, so I'll have to do some more research. I'll have plenty of time, as im not driving for another 2 years anyway. At first, the 944 seemed like the logical choice, just because I'm more attracted to the general idea of owning a Porsche vs. a BMW, although I also wouldn't mind having a BMW M3 as my first car the BMW might be a little more ethical, seeing that parts would probably be more common for the M and also cheaper. These are the things I'll have to look at before taking my final decision.

The BMW in general is a more down to earth choice.simpler, easier to work on, etc etc etc. also, parts are no where near as hard to get.

Hold on a second, and let me take my foot out of my mouth.

Okay, there we go. About those wheels, after I posted that picture I was looking at it, and I thought, wait a second those look like the ones that came on the older 5-series. Isn't that what those are? Either way, I shouldn't have posted anything, because I was in a hurry. Those 5-series headlights were the first thing that Google threw at me, and I was very half-assed about it.
