I have a question. The Demon, Duster, Mustang, Dart, Nova, etc. (anything with a small block) are PONY cars, so why does everyone consider them Muscle Cars? Is it because they are misinformed? There was a book that cracked me up called "The True American Muscle: The Mustang". Why do people over-rate the Mustang, anyway?

I think most people confuse the term "muscle car" with "car from the '60s or early '70s."
The fact of the matter is that, by definition, half of the population is below-averaged in the intelligence category.

Lmao, I don't doubt it. My friend thought the Mustang was the only "Pony" car because its a horse :X then again he also thinks that gas is alchohol and water.............. And is a conspiracy freak

^That's cute, "pony" car.
I think it's because most people just don't care that much about cars to do basic things like classify them properly. However, big blocks became available even in these pony cars, along with increases in size and weight, adding to the confusion.
With everything that can be done to a car today, and the ever increasing number of uses for cars (drifting, dubbing, rolling billboard, etc), I find it best to avoid referring to them by anything other than make & model.
edit: People may over-rate the Mustang because it has an interesting history, they may have fond memories of the car from their childhood that happens to still be around today, or maybe because they used to drag race their friends during a time when the Mustang had only a handful of competitors. All these reasons also apply to Chevy and Dodge fans, as well.
Personally, I like these cars for their rich history and character. Not something you find in the many soulless cars of today. I also like the aftermarket for these cars. Anything you could ever want is available for these, and put simply, these are big boy toys. I guess I'm just a big kid at heart, and this kid likes his toys to kick ass!

It think thats right delta. I just remembered something. My grandma (about 20 years ago) outrun a brand new Mustang that pulled up beside her while she was driving a 318 Road Runner. He revved up and up, took off, and got left. Btw, pretty much everything you want for a Demon/Duster is also available. Along with Cuda, Challenger, etc. To tell you the truth, I don't dislike anything about Mustangs aside from the fact that in my city, every body over rates them.

Two things that really irritate me about Mustangs right now are how everyone seems to be ricing their 5.0s, and everyone with a new V6 just HAS to get some goddamned racing stripes for it. I mean, come on, seriously???
I didn't mean to sound like there's no aftermarket for Dodges. Go visit SummitRacing.com and get lost for days.

Don't dis the stripes, man. We (as in my family) have an '07 Mustang in Grabber Orange with the dual black stripe down the middle. (It came like this)

Delta was referring to non-factory (i.e. aftermarket) racing stripes. Original equipment is exempt from the Ass-Clown Clause in the Ricer's Creed.
