Tupacrulez Posted 6/22/2007 10:26:27 PM message detail lol Kool Kool Keith= KKK haha! anyway, the vantage shows up on day 1485 next.....so says teh guide....so yeah, another 100 days or so...DAMN! and i won the 24 hr with my Pescarolo, and bought a 905...just fro the sheer hell of it...this car also shares my best non FGT time on the ring, a 5:19....awesome....and yeah, day 1337 was pretty 1337 lol....i won the 9hr enduro next, on sports softs....it was pretty damned bad overkill...i actually drove BACKWARDS for around 10 laps lol. --- It's Not Personal, It's Strictly Business s190.photobucket.com/albums/z317/Micheal_Corleone/GT4/?start=80 Soulidarity Posted 6/23/2007 7:01:20 AM message detail Tupac, more regarding the deleted volume... Hours, or perhaps as much as a day, before the volume was deleted, some unknown to the GT4 board (likely an alt of someone else on the board, or possibly a lurker) posted in the topic something to the effect of, "god, this again? why do you people keep making this annoying topic?" We were all fairly suspicious that he was the one that marked the topic, resulting in its deletion. --- Gades: Puny knight! I AM EVIL! Hero: E....Evil? oldguy1957 Posted 6/23/2007 8:46:27 AM message detail I decided to hook up the PS2 again. The GT4 withdrawals were getting to be too much for me. Apparently we did have a Vantage V8 WR before, because there was one in my garage. I'm a bit rusty since it's been several months without practice. I took it pretty easy on the first lap, then a little more aggressive on the second lap. I ended up with a 7'42.7 on S2's. I started 4 or 5 more laps, and was a few seconds ahead of my ghost, but crashed and bailed on each of those attempts. My overall impression of the car was that it was a bit too powerful to be a lot of fun. It does handle pretty well, though. Good balance and recoverability. I got way out of shape several time, and was able to pull it back under control (usually) without losing a ton of time. With a little more practice, I could probably whittle 5 to 10 more seconds off my time. It would be a fun car with softer tires, or a little less hp. --- A.K.A. It does have 550 hp working for it however, and I never thought that I'd say that it wasn't enough. It kinda isn't, if you ask me. Anyway, straight line speed was decent, but could be better. It was pretty stable at high speed, but had some pretty bad understeer at high speed. It handled OK for the most part, especially considering that the beast weighs a couple tons. It's powerful, stable and planted, just the right combo in my opinion. Driving without aids will allow you to utilize "lift-throttle oversteer" or as some call it "trailing-throttle oversteer." (just means that the rear end kicks out if you let off the throttle mid-turn) One of the coolest things about the Mustang GT is that it has more torque than horsepower (320 lb/ft & 295 bhp), which gives it plenty of grunt in the lower rev-ranges. You may be able to drive it better if you look closely at the engine map (the little graph in the upper-right corner of the tuning menu) and shift at power peak (around 5800 rpm, if memory serves). That way, when your revs fall at upshift, it will be around the torque peak, giving you good acceleration. I love this car, and many others just like it. I'll still have to get around to the Vantage. Also, when I think "depth charge" I think 2 things: 1) heavy. 2) da BOMB, baby! It kind of hearkens back to the older style Mustangs, but still looks modern and awesome. At 25k, it's close to a steal. On S2s at the Ring, this car was a tad surprising. I was expecting to get a whole bunch of that supposedly ubiquitous American understeer, but was surprised when it handled fairly well. It has a torquey engine that handles hills really well. The gearing was probably a little tall for a car with a scanty 295 hp, but it still accelerated well. I did encounter a little bit of understeer at high speed, but it was manageable for the most part. I ran a couple laps with S2s, with times around 8'09.Then I put on the N2s... With N2s, the car still handled OK. It didn't change direction as well as on S2s and there was a little more understeer in the car at lower speeds. It stayed well-grounded and stable at high speed. My lap times with the N2s were around 8'29 or so. I came into this WR immediately after finishing the FGT World Championship and I have to say it took a little bit of adjusting to get used to not going 200 mph all the time. I like this car a lot. I'm currently in the process of making a Mustang that emulates a race car so I can beat JGTC machines with it. It's got ~493 hp, but needs some serious tuning to get rid of some understeer. But that is mostly because most modern American cars push like a snow-plow. The Mustang does not have a painful, can't-get-it-to-turn understeer. But I wouldn't call it neutral handling, either. The front breaks loose before the back. In fact, I couldn't get the back to break loose at all...even in the beginning esses, where one can usually get the back end swinging side to side enough to invoke at least a little oversteer. I only used S2's. Perhaps on N's it's a different story. The car does get around the track pretty well. I'm sure some of you were able to break 8 minutes, which is good for 310 hp car. It felt a little heavy at times, but not too bad. I was shooting for that 8-minute lap, but my best of two laps was a 8'01.9. I'm sure that, in real life, the car is a lot of fun to drive. I wasn't really in the driving mood when I did it, but I was LMAO'ing at myself exhibiting classic amateur RUF driving. I haven't played GT much lately, and it's been a while since I got in the Yellowbird, so I was back to square one with RUF handling skills. I'll give it another shot later. Tupacrulez Posted 7/12/2007 10:03:23 AM message detail it is an.....eh......acquired....taste. fun as hell though. --- It's Not Personal, It's Strictly Business *new pics,at the back* s190.photobucket.com/albums/z317/Micheal_Corleone/ nightmare75 Posted 7/12/2007 9:21:10 PM message detail I was feeling a little masochistic today, so I went to the local Ruf dealer and picked up a sparkely new '86 BTR. I then thought, "How could I make this car more difficult to drive? I know," I exclaimed, "I'll turn off the driving aids!" This is a fairly standard procedure for me, but on a car this tail-heavy, it could be an adventure. I was about to run a few laps when I thought to myself, "This car could still drive WORSE!" I then proceeded to equip N2s. Oh boy. I was in for a ride. I'll tell this story... WITH PICTURES!!!! It started off interestingly enough. And by interesting, I mean that the tires weren't touching as much pavement as I would have liked. Here's an example of how: i168.photobucket.com/albums/u166/nightmare_75/GT4/offroad.jpgI found this car a little hard to control at first. It had gigantic oversteer in a lot of situations. I know that NONE of you guys probably encountered this (lol) so I'll provide a picture. i168.photobucket.com/albums/u166/nightmare_75/GT4/BTR.jpgI got used to the car a little, even to the point where I was doing some controlled drifting through the technical section. Here you can see how I chained a couple together: First one: i168.photobucket.com/albums/u166/nightmare_75/GT4/driftone.jpgThen another: i168.photobucket.com/albums/u166/nightmare_75/GT4/thenanother.jpgYou can see that I thought I had the hang of the car. Then I was proved wrong: i168.photobucket.com/albums/u166/nightmare_75/GT4/Oops.jpgI ended up enjoying my drive in this car, so I figured I'd get at least one picture of it were all four tires actually had traction ^_^ i168.photobucket.com/albums/u166/nightmare_75/GT4/BTR2.jpgTimes in this car were around 8'13 with the N2s. I reverted the car back to its default S3 tires and found the car to be much more easily manageable. I actually found some understeer in the car in a couple corners. Still, you need to be careful about braking in anything but a straight line because the back end will come around on you. As for the Mod/Admin BR, I believe that you all know where you can find that one ^_^ --- Proud Follower of Pastafarianism -- 12/15/06 www.gt4fox.proboards100.com -- For awesomeness! Tupacrulez Posted 7/12/2007 9:58:35 PM message detail Hmmm i love oversteer so this was the car for me. i didn't throw N2's on...as that was a tad bit...eh.....foolish to my views...why crash a good car? lol anyway pics will be around soon enough. no long write up, i have better things to do. Oh and Nightmare: nothing like going off of Aremburg into 1 of only THREE sandtraps at the ring eh? --- It's Not Personal, It's Strictly Business *new pics,at the back* s190.photobucket.com/albums/z317/Micheal_Corleone/ nightmare75 Posted 7/12/2007 10:34:21 PM message detail The problem with that was that I was actually off at Schwedenkreuz (sp?) and just never got back on. Of the three sand traps, I find two of them on a fairly regular basis. The one behind Aremberg is usually because I missed Shwedenkreuz because I was being too aggressive. The other one is Pflantzgarten, which has destroyed many a good lap time where I was too aggressive. --- Proud Follower of Pastafarianism -- 12/15/06 www.gt4fox.proboards100.com -- For awesomeness! For me to work on the "Depth Charge Ethel" Special™, I'd have to actually own the Tank Car®, which I do not. I = suck.

It is actually a rather crappy car, IMHO. For a machine with that kind of hype about it, you would think it would drive a little better, but it kinda sux0rz. However, last time I drove it was against top GT classed cars in a Family Cup (Laguna Seca).
I'm curious to see how it handles the 'Ring. It's got a weird shift, but it seems to have "meh" power...
I'm not the biggest Skyline fan ever, mind you...
