I told you guys that would happen!!!!
You have to be more discreet with posting the link. Generally, it has to be in your sig for it to be legal.
I'm not usually a Skyline fan, but I was reminded of the car when I beat one in my race-tuned CLK55 today. I thought "I haven't driven that yet! Lets give it a shot!"
My second choice was the Altezza tourer, if that makes any difference.

The Altezza is a good car. We should use that for the next RR®!

Here's my report on the Nissan GT-R Concept LM Race Car Racecar Rider®
Boy oh boy, talk about quick shifts! I would say that you could blink and miss them. The only problem with that statement is that the shifting is quicker than the blink of an eye. The quick shifts almost make it seem like driving a CVT. As long as you're delicate with the throttle in first (i.e. *not* just putting the pedal to the mat), that strange shift ignignoc mentioned is improved.
Despite that, the car seemed to underachieve on acceleration. I would expect to be sucked back in the chair (so to speak) a little more by 600+ hp.
I found the handling to be fairly decent, however. There was a little bit of understeer present in a couple of spots, but it was manageable. The car did have some trouble with some of the more serious bumps (specifically those leading up to Ex-Muhle), but a little caution made the car handle them better.
After 3 laps, my best time was 6'06.481. I think that with a better suspension setup and a little more clean lap, this car could break the 6-minute barrier.
Overall, it's a pretty decent car. I'm going to have to run it right next to the 350Z Concept LM to see how it stacks up. That one will be a tough match-up because the Fairlady is one of my favorite production-based race cars in the game.

Yes, I must admit I am very fond of the Fairlady as well. I think it was my first decent prize Car when I started GT4 and won me a lot of Races and money.
Have not gotten to the RR™ yet, maybe at the Weekend, but I have done the -
RUF BTR '86 Weekend Rider™
This was a WR™ before my time @ the Diaries but I did have lots of fun with this and all the RUF during my Rufmania phase.
Obviously not cured as still cannot help cackling and grinning maniacally when driving ( any of ) them.
I don't know what it is , maybe they just suit my driving style, but I have very few problems getting to grips with them even after not having driven one in a while.
The BTR seems to me like a potentially very good drift Car as well. Considering the problems GT4 has in accurately reproducing drift physics, it comes close ( I have come to the conclusion you cannot actually drift PROPERLY in GT4 ).
So with Aids off and Car stock, whittled down my time from 7 ' 50 . 049 to a 7 ' 41 . 468 with no adjustments.
I always forget you have the option to do some tuning of suspension with the Ruf, but I did not fiddle with that, just moved the ballast slider and knocked out a pretty respectable lap of 7 ' 33 . 159 first pop.
I had a sort of Gunmetal Grey looking Car BTW.
I have a full weekend Workshop with my Red Cross job so I may not get the chance to try for any more, we'll see. Later.

The Z Concept LM is most-assuredly one of the best GT class cars in the game. It's stable, powerful, agile and neutral, making it very easy and confidence-inspiring to fling about in corners and such. Perhaps this should be the next RR® after the Altezza?

Well Igni, as the immortal Bard said - " Ask and Ye shall receive" . I for one will not argue with that choice.

Hello, I have finally found the 'Ring Diaries I did post earlier in the ones on GAMEF*CKS but work, guitar, drinking and girlfriend (roughly in that order) have kept me from playing GT4. However, I'm not drinking anymore (not drinking any less either) and now have the time to participate a bit more. Hopefully...!

Welcome aboard, General. Hopefully, more will keep finding us. It still seems like "that other board" is still getting more action than this one as far as WR and RR reports. Keep sending people this way, and sometime in the future we can just let that other thread die.

We should stop posting in the GF thread except for "We've Moved!" bumps. That would force people to move over here.

General Lee, in response to your question on gamefags, here is a setup used by MrPinstripes for his sub-5 minute run. I wasn't able to duplicate his results, but I got down to a 5'14. It's a place to start, and then you can modify it to your taste:
MrPinstripes Posted 11/1/2006 1:51:47 PM message detail Alright; here's my FGT Nurburgring setup. It's tuned for use with the DFP, but should be a good starting point for a DS2 setup. All applicable settings are displayed Front/Rear.
--- Brake Balance Controller --- 7/4
I kept lowering this over the course of testing, and this is where it was set when I made my run. It might still be a bit too high, but I think it's about where it should be.
--- Suspension --- SR: 10.2/10.0 RH: 65/65 SB: 6/6 SRB: 8/9 CA: 2.5/3.0 TA: 0/-2
--- Gear Ratios --- 1: 4.69 2: 3.24 3: 2.40 4: 1.91 5: 1.59 6: 1.34 7: 1.15 FD: 5.3 AS: 16
Change the FD first, then change the AS (first to something else, then back to 16), then adjust each gear. You might have to set the FD to 5.5 first, then change the AS, then reset the FD to 5.3, then adjust each gear; I can't remember for sure.
--- Driving Aids --- ASM (O): 0 ASM (U): 0 TCS: 0
Feel free to add a few points of TCS, but I made my run with the aids at 0. Using TCS does slow you down, but so does wheelspin. It all depends on how light your throttle foot/thumb is.
--- Downforce --- 75/105
--- Limited Slip --- IT: 25 LSA: 20 LSD: 55
--- Weight Balance --- BW: 20 F/RB: -50
This makes the car a lot more stable under braking and during entry, and is the "secret weapon" of my setup. Set the ballast to 0 if you think it'll slow you down, but (from my experience) the negatives aren't noticeable and the positives are huge.
There you have it. As with any setup, it may need some tweaking here and there to adjust for variances from driver to driver, but it should be a fairly solid, neutral setup for anyone. The best way to fine-tune it to suit you will probably be the damper settings and the LSD; most of the rest should probably stay where it is.
--end--
I think I also have a link to the video of his run. I'll look for it if you'd like to see it.

Thanks OldGuy. I will take that as a starting point. As a aside, I finally made a properley clean lap in the Minolta (for the first time), and in the ensuing excitement I didn't note the time! To redress this issue I shall now have to change my username to Mr SuperDickHead or something similar. If you can find the video that would be good, but don't worry about it if it's not easily found. There are plenty of vids out there of phenomenal laps that I am learning loads from...

Has anyone ever tried fully modding the R390 GT-1 Road Car and running it? It's tough to handle at first and the brakes need some improving, but so far I've got the best time with it down below the best time I have set for the Toyota GT-0ne.
My current fastest time around the Ring is 5.05.367 in the FGT. My set-up is getting ever closer to where it needs to be, but I think I'll try the MrPinstripes set-up to see if I can learn anything.

Well our annual First Aid Instructors workshop is over for another year. Completed my re accreditation work and passed with flying colours, so I am fully Certified again ( and you can stop giggling for a start Igni !! ). Also did some training in Anaphylaxis, Epilepsy and advanced life support techniques - managing airways using a Oropharyngeal Airway. Also had an information session on Hyperbaric Medicine. All very interesting but a tiring weekend nonetheless. I still have a few days left to run the Racecar Rider® so should be able to get it done okay. Also have to finish editing the "Virtual Map" soon. Tupacrulez / Predator ? - Dont forget you have to choose the next Weekend Rider™ picker asap, in case they have clues and stuff to present before the Weekend. Thats all for now.
